Pontiac Sunfire Care and Maintenance
Hello everybody I could use a bit of help here. I'm trying to change my oil and can't find the drain pin on a 96 Sunfire 4 door auto with 4.2L motor. Normaly id just take it to a shop but I'm in Switzerland and was charged around $19.00 for a Wix oil filter. so i know better than to take it to a shop. Aside from asking no less than 150Chf then they are going to hit me with the American car factor just like Americans like to do to European car owners except its much worse here. Unlike in America, the Europeans really don't have the parts in large abundance for GM cars.

I have a 02 Sunfire SLX. I have found the fuel filter under the back of the car and it looks to me like its the original. I can access it just fine without lifting the car up but I'm a bit confused about how to disconnect it. I have the Haynes book and I have the just of it BUT looking at it I see the two nuts. I can't decide which one should turn and which should be held stationary.
Is the filter supposed to spin while I hold a wrench on the line to keep it from twisting?
Also what are my options if it doesnt want to budge? I have very little space to get a wrench in there and if the filter is supposed to twist theres not much room to do this by hand either.
Now I can make more space but theres some black box with hoses running into it. I have no idea what this thing is but it looks like one bolt will take it down.
Any tips would be great!
There is no flow to or from the radiator...
I've already done the following....
replaced thermostat
replaced water pump
radiator rod out
block check for combustion gases
still.....nothing... anybody know about this car...?
Thanks!
I know how to do and oil change and all that good stuff. Here is the issue. 1) Can't find the oil filter; 2) Can't find the drain plug (I mean come on, the drain plug!!!); 3) I have never change an oil filter like this before. It is just a filter, like an air filter??? Any info is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I just replaced the spark plugs in my Sunfire. I used NGKs instead of ACDelcos. Is that OK? I read somewhere that in some GM cars, one MUST use ACDelco plugs because the computer is tuned to the electrical resistance of ACDelcos, and that using another brand like NGKs will throw the efficiency off and cause bad gas mileage. Is that true of the 01 Sunfire 2.2?
I noticed the NGKs are gapped at .050 and the ACDelcos are .040 (I left the NGK at .05 per their specs). Is that an indicator that it's not a good match for my car?
Since I just replaced the plugs I haven't had a chance to measure my MPG, but I wonder if I should just dump the NGKs and get ACDelcos.
there is also a pop when turning the wheel right or let, like turning around a corner.
any ideas would be GREATLY appreciated.
thanks.

a 2004 pontiac sunfire?
Can anyone suggest a website to view that shows services that will be performed for a 72,000 mile maintenance?
Thank you for your help.

Don't ask me why it works. Everyone tells me it’s the opposite of what should happen. I have a feeling it’s because air is being drawn away from the engine and over it when the vents are open and pulling air through. Respond back if it works, thanks.
on a 2002 pontaic sunfire I'm female and i realy want to do this myself
Oil is 5W-30, when you take a oil dip stick out- you will see in on the bottom.
I put 10W-30 synthetic.
Try Ebay for the owners manual.
Best,
Sam.
