My driver's side rear strut has failed, according to my dealer's service dept. They are a reputable dealer and I expect that the pair will have to be replaced. The car has sat mostly idle in the garage from early March 2020 until recently - March 31, 2021. Could this have been a contributing factor? I live in a small city - pop. 190,000. Streets are decent. I am the only driver and don't go out in bad weather, avoid heavy traffic, etc. Regardless of what I do - fix for $1,000.00 or trade in, I will inform Toyota North America Headquarters of my dissatisfaction. My 4th Toyota and few problems with the others. Thanks to members for any info. Jim

Describe failed. Is it not dampening the bumps at all or just seeping fluid at this time? How did they break down the estimate for repair? $1000 would be rather high having looked up the parts and labor. I would never consider trading it in over a repair like this. That would cost you way more in the long run.
