    Interesting comparison. But for approx $8~9k more the Santa Cruz better come out on top. That's an approx 30% premium over the Maverick included here.

    I think a comparison of the base models would be even more interesting (lets say a $25K max cap with a few options) as that's were many buyers of both models will be shopping. When you get into the $35~40K range these compact trucks start competing with mid-size trucks.

    The SC can't compete with a nearly 40mpg standard hybrid pickup available OTD for the price of a Corolla. If I wanted performance I wouldn't be shopping a 24k hybrid pickup to begin with. I'd get a midsize truck and a fun weekend car on the side. The Mav is a cheap compromise.

    The SC looks overdesigned and already dated.

    Nice try no cigar for the Maverick! Less horse power, greater weight, and it outstripped the Santa Cruz!? Who's driving your rigs? Particularly after some have clocked Santa Cruz at 5.7! Ford's marketing coming to/for bear! Santa Cruz remains an HR for Hyundai. Reminds one of the 70s where major car mags biased in favor of American manufacture.

    Not a good comparison;
    1) These trucks primary market is someone who doesn't make over $100,000 a year. Duh! Price is the decider.
    2) There is a $9,000 difference between the trim levels of the tested trucks. Add the Luxury Package, the Off Road FX Package to the Maverick and you still have $4,000 to spend to get to the Hyundai price. Add a moonroof. and you still have $2,000 left over.
    3) Most people that buy trucks HAUL and TOW stuff. It's the point of having a truck so at $40,000, I agree with the guy below; Im buying bigger truck.
    In actuality, the Base Ford with the turbo and AWD coupled with the tow and FX4 packages and you are around $27,000. Helluva difference in price.....
    When was the last time you saw anybody hauling or towing anything with a Hyundai? I like Hyundai's and have owned one but is this where Hyundai begins to learn the towing and hauling lessons and I get to find out what breaks in their trucks before they do? The integrated towing v none??? Heavy duty engine and transmission cooling???. Most of the people that buy these trucks will also end up towing a cargo trailer to handle the load the bed can't.....

    If you spend $41,000 on a Hyundai Santa Cruz you are out of your mind! It's a $25K truck at best!

    For 100 dollars a person can get a Bluetooth trailer brake controller and when another book tested the Maverick they said the touch screen clunky. I just priced a Maverick and before taxes it came to $48,930.00. I have a new motorhome on a Ford F53 chassis and it handles like the steering wheel isn't connected to anything, I hope the Maverick is better than that
