I'm opening the Ford Interceptor concept forum to gauge some interest on the vehicle.

The Interceptor is derived from the RWD Mustang platform, but stretched to fit full-size sedan needs but very much a sports sedan with a V8 engine.

Your thoughts?

It will be my next car if Ford builds it. It would be the perfect replacement for both the 500 and Panthers.

I have no doubt it will perform. I don't like bathtub feeling cars though, I like the panoramic view, and this one is bound to have a low seating position, and high cowl for me to see over. That's likely to be a problem. IT's the one thing I don't like about the Fusion, MKZ, etc., I sit too low.

Looks an awful lot like a 300.....

No activity here for a while, Ant, any word on when this will hit the market? I'll withhold my opinion about how it feels to drive one until I can at least sit in one. Tend to agree that I don't like the 300 feel, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

Reactions still being studied in a few more auto shows, but not as long as most would predict otherwise.

I bought an Acura RL SH-AWD for an employee of mine - as his company car - his choice. This is the top of the top of the line for Acura. I drove it last night extensively.

Reminded me most of a 5 series - for a FWD/AWD setup, and east/west engine configuration, it was really stable, but awfully tight and rough riding for such a large car. I don't like the Navigation as well as my Ford, because it's not touch screen, but the rest of the interior is drop dead gorgeous. It's comfy, very quick, very sport like in handling. Not for me though, I prefer the more sedate, quiet, and smooth ride.

Point is: It's freekin GORGEOUS inside and out. Now, why hasn't Ford been able to do that? They could have made a Lincoln like that ages ago - but things have changed so much. Used to be Acura was trying to imitate Lincoln with their Legend and Vigor - now, Lincoln should try to imitate the RL to get back in the game - that's how far they're out. Whatever they make for Lincoln out of that Interceptor - it needs to be DIFFERENT than the Inceptor, and of course, have a beautiful interior. Then, they may have something that would replace the Town Car, and be superior to Honda, who has no V-8 or RWD cars.
  • Ford needs to learn it has no time to study reactions, adn sometimes those studies just hamper things. Clinics and focus groups get you cars like the 500, 2008 Focus, the 2006 Explorer re-do. Get er done. Ford needs something now, and approving it now won't get it here before the 2010 model year

...driving a hundred mph down the freeway and one of these pulling up behind me on the microphone telling me "you can't out run me, I have a 5-0". Last time they could use that line was the early ninety's mustang interceptors.

Of course the car would have to actually be working in order to pull you over. :)

? what's that mean? Is there a hidden message there? Oh, maybe this is the DaVinci code, and we need to figure it out. :)

It's not that difficult. The Interceptor is just a concept car, not a fully working vehicle capable of high speeds.
  • fordenvyfordenvy Member Posts: 72
duh I know its not a working car, I was saying I can see it now. Which usually means non-existent, but you can see it coming in the future. Think before you write.

Duh - I wasn't responding to you, I was responding to pnewby. Think before you write.
