AFAIK there isn't one. Unlocking the doors unlocks the hatch as well.

Thanks for your quick reply. Honda is being cheap on this as they need a remote release. Maybe they are trying to push customers to the touring edition.

We just bought an 07 EX-L, upgrading from our 2001 Odyssey which we loved. One of the differences is an integrated radio antenna rather than an exterior antenna. We immediately noticed that the AM radio reception is significantly worse in the 07 than the 2001. Has anyone else experienced this?

Hi, we just purchased an 07 EXL in August and have just 3000Km on it. Ours makes a slight clunk, which feels like it is in the steering column, when making low speed, tight turning radius turns (forward & reverse), parking lot maneuvers.

Our dealer verified the complaint and said it was normal. They went as far as to drive off the lot (brand new) and said that it did the same thing.

I have owned several new and used vehicles (plus dozens I have driven for work) and have never felt this in any of them.

I will be sending a letter to Honda Canada and my dealer if nothing is done about this. I'll let you know what comes of it as it will be going back to the shop this week.

I had exactly this symptom on my 2004 CRV at about 12,000 miles. The dealer replaced the struts under warranty and all was well.
  • calthicalthi Member Posts: 5
Looks like you may have the same problem like mine where the Strut was leaked. Get them to check that and see what happens.

    Good luck.

This 2007 EX-L is our first vehicle with leather interior ... what is recommended, if anything, to treat the leather? Is there some protectant, or conditioning, or some other type of treatment that I should be thinking about? Or will it wear just fine?
  • tampahondatampahonda Member Posts: 31
Most of the vehicles I have owned have been with leather interior. Over the years, I have tried almost every leather product, as well as carwash and wax. My personal preference for leather treatment is still the ArmorAll leather gel products. I use the ArmorAll leather wipes, then follow-up with the gel. I allow it to sit for a couple of minutes, then buff it clean with a white diaper rag. I only condition the seats every 6 months, or so. Had good luck with Honda, Toyota, Mazda, and Cadillac leather.

CR said below regarding detailing the leather interior

Leather trim. Use leather cleaner, saddle soap, or another mild leather soap on a damp cloth and rub it softly onto all leather areas. Remove the excess soap with a clean, slightly damp cloth. Use cotton swabs to remove excess soap from the seams.

Conditioning. After cleaning, leather can be treated with a conditioner formulated specifically for it. This is particularly valuable for dried-out leather. If you would like to apply a product to your car’s vinyl or plastic, try to find a product that is nongreasy. Many commercial conditioners contain silicone oils that can stain clothing.

Great, thanks for the suggestions ... I'll check them out. Frankly I wasn't even certain how critical it was to treat leather (not having any personal experience). Thanks again.
  • tampahondatampahonda Member Posts: 31
Highly recommend NOT using saddle soap. It is a nightmare to remove! Plus, it actually damages the leather; too high of alkalinity. Lots of simple to use products to clean and then condition. It is skin, so it needs to be conditioned, in order to avoid craking and splitting. Plus, if it is a light color (ivory or olive) it will become dirty and marred, if it is not cleaned and conditioned. Plenty of products out there, though.

everyone knows about the brake service bulletin? the soft brake issue? they need to manually bleed the brakes while having another person pump the brake pedal....there is a tsb out on this issue.

Thank you for posting this ... I will be asking the dealer about this straight away. SAR
  • sreisssreiss Member Posts: 65
I talked with the service department at the dealer this afternoon, and he looked up service bulletins for the 2007 Odyssey and could not find one related to this. He also asked another service manager if he knew of anything in his experience and neither of them could come up with anything. They're more than happy to check it out and even suggested that further break-in might help (I only have about 650 miles on the van so far).
  • sonofknudsonofknud Member Posts: 50
I have had my car in 5 times on this. I mentioned the manually bleeding for the last time and here is what they did. They bleed the brakes 4 times on 9/7/2007 per Tech Line Reference 2435962 as per Lance. They seem better but I'm not sure how long this will last. In the past they seem to get worse with time.

Just got a grey EX-L Odyssey recently and loving it (with lotsa add-ons). The only things left I want to do is to replace both high and low beams and if possible fog light too with HID. I have no experience as far as which brand to get, how much and what to be done (I dont want cheap and cheesy after market stuff tho) so if anyone is a pro at this please share your opinion. Thanks in advance.
  • bigdadi118bigdadi118 Member Posts: 1,207
I think only OEM HID Hi/Lo headlights are legal and after mark HID conversion kits are not legal.

Correct me if I am wrong.

I changed the Lo Beam to Sylvania SilverStar ULTRA. It has the brightest, whitest, 100% legal halogen. That is closet to HID.
  • fence1fence1 Member Posts: 12
could you tell me the model number or web link ? Also do you have to have the hid conversion kit ? i try to avoid these.

I bought 2 Low Beam bulbs only, since I don't always use High Beam ... the best place to buy them is at amazon.com with free shipping & 10.00 rebate ... no need conversion kit & very easy to change, there's instruction in owner handbook.

    Low Beam
9006SU Silverstar ULTRA for Ultra Night Vision - The Whitest and Brightest Halogen
    High Beam
    9005SU Silverstar ULTRA

I have a 06' EXL-RES, there is no remote hatch release. You open the rear hatch by pressing on the door open button on the key fob twice. Power hatch only comes in the Touring version.

May I ask which model you have? Do you have the EX? My husband and I test drove one and he was coughing and practically having an asthma attack. I am wondering if the leather might be better/worse. :confuse:
  • beachmom3beachmom3 Member Posts: 12
    Which trim level?
    Was the problem resolved?
Trying to decide between EX and EX-L
    thanks
  • bigdadi118bigdadi118 Member Posts: 1,207
It is just LX trim. I think the allergy causing vapor are released to the air inside cabin from the new parts, esp. plastic or vinyl ones. I think the leather is the lesser chance.

It is gone now or at least not as bad as brand new. Whenever my wife is in the car I open the window as much as possible to let fresh air to blend with the inside air.

what's involved in replacing an ac condenser on a s70 volvo (98)? i'm generally handy and don't want to drop $800 i was just quoted.
    thanks

Any 07 ODY owners want to avoid this condensor leakage should take a look at MSG #85

It is easy, about 30 - 45 mins to gt the job done. Cost? About $4.00

We were about to purchase a 2007 Honda Odyssey when we noticed a rust colored powder fall out from the 'hinged' area of the back seats. We are concerned that other areas may be corroded or is this simply due to the fact that the car may have been sitting on the lot so long without movement...it only has 7 miles. Any thoughts/similar experience?

I recently drove an '07 Odyssey LX over a wide variety of road surfaces, and, as has been widely reported, the road noise was awful except on the smoothest of asphalt surfaces. (I loved the car in all other respects.) I am wondering if the road noise is lower on the EX-L and Touring models, which have the "Active Noise Cancellation" feature. Does anybody know?
  • tyttotytto Member Posts: 1
I thought it was just me! We purchased a 2008 EXL Dec 28th and drove 3 1/2 hrs to my in-laws. I thought I was getting nauseous because of the longer trip and the fact that I had to turn my head to the kids in the back a lot. However, the days following I would feel the same way and immediately felt better when we got out of the car. I do feel better when I drive, but I can smell the "new car smell" more on the passenger side. I wonder, too, if there is something in the leather, fabric, etc that's making me sick. (I hope so, which would mean it would lessen over time. I'm wondering if it's the air pressure instead!!!)

I'll be buying an air freshener to see if that works.

I've had an 07 EX-L since September - and previously drove an 01 Ody EX for over 6.5 years - and I find it to be quite quiet. I can't compare it to the 07 LX, though.
  • blackexv6blackexv6 Member Posts: 503
We have two Honda cars with the ANC system: 2006 Odyssey EXL-NAV/RES & 2008 Accord EXL-4cyl.

I can tell you first hand both cars are louder on the highway than most cars (many that cost 1/2 the price).

Having driven the EX Odyssey (no ANC) and the Accord LX-P (no ANC) I could not detect an appreciable difference in road noise.

As a note, Consumer Reports cited road noise (again!) as a problem in the latest test of the '08 VCM equipped Accord.

If you are looking for a quiet, comfortable ride choose another manufacturer. If you want a sporty ride where you are more connected with road choose Honda.

I have had the same soft brake problem since I bought the 07 Ody in 07/07 (hmm..).

From what I read here and on OdyClub, expecting Honda to do anything about this is probably futile.

What I need to know about is this "manual bleeding while another pumps" procedure. If that's all it takes, I'll just take the van to my local service station mechanic and have them do that for much less than the cost of driving 200 mile RT to the dealership.

So, when you say "while having another person pump the brake pedal," does that mean the other person constantly pumps the pedal, or just holds pressure on the pedal, or exactly what? If I have my mechanic do it, I want to be able to tell him precisely what to do, if this is not a usual type of bleeding procedure.

    Thanks in advance.

You will want to read the Odyssey Brake problems forum also. I would keep bring it to Honda and keep your receipts and read your states Lemon law. First thing is to replace the ABS Modulator though that didn't resolve mine. The tech I worked with was convinced it had to do with that part. The last time I brought it in they first did a bleed and that didn't help they said so they engaged my ABS system (which caused the Modulator to be used) 30 times then did a bleed and that seemed to help. Each time it seems better but slowly comes back so I am not confident they have figured it out yet.

2007 honda odyssey. I have had steering pulls since the day i bought this lemon, sounds harsh! well, its a brand new car and i have never had this with any other new car I brought it to the dealer 4x within a year and have been told its the tires, roads and that having a pull is normal for all minivans. They also told me that there 80,000 dollar alignment machine cant find anything wrong with the van. Well it pulls all the time and if i let go of the wheel id be in the next lane ...nice to have my family in a car that i know is unsafe!!!!!! I know 3 people who bought toyota minivans and love them and have no problems with them. MAYBE i should have spent alittle more on the toyota

I bought anew 2007 Odyssey last October that smelled also. It was so strong, I went back the next day to complain. We also have eyes burning and headaches. After 9 months and lots of complaints to Honda, it still smells. Does your Odyssey still smell? What color is your interior? I have the Ivory leather and went around smelling other new Odysseys and could only detect the smell in the Ivory. Have you complained to Honda? I do know from Honda that we are not the first to have this problem. How are you handling this?

Here is today feature in AOL Auto ...

    Toxic Cars
Is your car making you sick?
By SHERYLL ALEXANDER | AOL AUTOS

As environment-friendly Martha Stewart might know, that new car smell is not a good thing. In fact, inhaling the fumes from your new car can be toxic and are created from a literal soup of chemicals such as arsenic and formaldehyde, which can take years to completely be "out-gassed" from your new car's interior materials.

In fact, Americans spend so much time in their cars, the "out-gassing" of so-called volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from new car interiors and new car seat parts like the steering wheel, dashboard, seats and carpets are a big concern as these are known contributors to acute and long-term health problems.

Unfortunately, with the auto industry slowdown on the minds of car execs and politicians, combating indoor air pollution in new cars is not getting much play. Interestingly, automakers in Europe and Japan are serious about making their cars less toxic, especially for those who suffer from environmental allergies.

So, can America's Big Three really take on yet another eco challenge in a market focused mostly on fuel efficiency and lowering carbon dioxide emissions? Some American automakers are already making strides to clean up chemical emissions inside their cars.

GM's vehicles, in fact, showed a 27 percent improvement in cleaning up indoor air pollution, so says findings from The Ecology Center's annual HealthyCar.org study. Using portable X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) technology, The Ecology Center tests almost 300 new cars and car seats for toxic chemicals like bromine, chlorine, lead and heavy metals. These chemicals have been linked to health issues such as birth defects, liver toxicity, cancer, allergies and impaired learning.

"XRF is the dominate technology used to quickly screen products for harmful chemicals," said Jeff Gearhart, director of the Ecology Center's Clean Car Campaign. XRF is used by the Food and Drug Administration, Homeland Security, Consumer Products Safety Commission and many leading companies to screen harmful chemicals in consumer products.

"We still see far too many vehicles that are very chemical intensive," Gearhart said. "The good news is within every vehicle class, we have vehicles we rank that have minimal use of these chemicals."

For consumers thinking about buying a new car or car set, you can visit HealthyCar.org and search the findings by model or compare models.

Hi, I have a 2007 Odyssey EXL. Today on the way back from picking my daughter up from school, I stopped at the mailbox. I left the car running and got out. When I tried to get back in, the door would not open but the lock appeared to be unlocked. I was fortunate to have access to another key. I turned it in the lock and the lock popped up a little bit more.

I called the dealer and they said it was a setting you could set so the car would lock after you got out with the car running! That seems really weird. I looked through the owner's manual and it didn't say anything about this setting.

Has anyone had this problem? I would appreciate any insight into this problem! Thanks so much.

Our Odyssey EX will turn 3 in about a month.

We've had zero problems with our van and have no regrets having purchased it. It's such a great utility vehicle. We haul our 3 kids around in it daily and love the fact we can haul a load of 4 x 8 plywood(and I have done that several times).

My only complaint is road noise on cement roads, but 95% of the time it's a non issue. The way it handles like a car more then makes up for that issue in my opinion.

What a great van. :) We hope this van will last us through all our kid years and we've got another 15 before the youngest is gone.
  • sreisssreiss Member Posts: 65
Bobber1 - ditto from my side. Ours is just over 2 years old (got it right at the end of the 2007 season) and it's great. I, too, have hauled 4x8 sheets, kids, dogs, tons of luggage, etc etc etc. It handles really well and performs perfectly. The only issue I had was a problem with wheel bearings in the right front - which was very odd given the low mileage. It was repaired under warranty no problem.

I added the weathertech floor liners which are highly recommended year-round - just the other day they saved a serious mess from a cup of coffee upended all over the place.

We're also hoping to get many, many years of service.
