The Impreza is sure-footed, providing confident handling via the symmetrical AWD setup. The current gen is slightly underpowered, making mountain driving and highway passing tedious, so the new RS should unlock the car's full potential as a capable daily driver and road-tripper. I expect its highway fuel economy will make 36 - 38 mpg with the more relaxed efficiency at cruising speed of the 2.5 liter engine. Compare that to an electrified crossover like the Toyota Venza, with its 39 mpg highway mileage and the same cargo capacity as the Impreza. Of course the hybrid Venza wins big in city driving, but I'm a long-hauler with 90%+ of my miles accruing on cross-country trips. Hoping the RS slots in at $27.5K or below, otherwise it'll be tough not to choose the Crosstrek Sport with almost the identical packaging, higher ground clearance, and more range with the larger fuel tank while giving up only a couple of mpg.
