The 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6 is Hyundai's heavily anticipated EV sedan, and the EPA just announced a maximum all-electric range of 361 miles for it. That's more than any Tesla Model 3.

One of the things not mentioned in this article is the charging times. I understood that Hyundai have made this much more workable and are far ahead of their competition. Is this true?

Apples to oranges comparison. The long range Tesla with 374 miles of range beats Hyundai.

To have more range than Tesla all Hyundai needed to do was put in a bigger battery.

I just bought a Long Range Tesla model 3 for <$54k. Red, and it qualifies for the $7500 ITC. I don’t believe the Ionic 6 will match the price. My EPA range is 358 miles.
  • Tulsa fan boys stop being so negative. The Hyundai. Is actually a better deal and more bang for the buck.

I think the Hyundai IONIQ 6 is way better than any Tesla. Tesla thinks they can turn off the car and lock you in after you buy the vehicle! THAT IS UNACCEPTABLE AND IS WRONG?! Tesla Deaths Total as of 2/8/2023: 356 Tesla Autopilot Deaths Count: 19! All because of TESLA SHUTTING THEM OFF?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! Hyundai knows that once they sell cars, they don ´ t own them any more. And yes, ALL of you Tesla fans need to stop being hateful, sassy, disrespectful, and a hater. No one asked for your EPA Mileage, and yes Hyundai can match the price because they technically did already.

I have a Tesla S with 409 mile range. I can’t stomach Musk now, but the car is awesome. Bought it in 2020 and it has been flawless. I never use autopilot, as I enjoy driving. Paid just under $75 K for the blue car with better wheels. Tesla started the EV cars that are appealing and fun to drive. I will wait to see if any of these non-American cars stand the test of time. My sons own an X, a 3, a S and a Y. They love them but feel Musk is a big problem now. We all sold our stock in Tesla as soon as he became so erratic, and bought Twitter, rather than focus on his high tech industries.

There is no charging infrastructure for non tesla vehicles, that's why I got one, drive from NC to NY with out anxiety.,like I had with VW ID4. Why is no one writing about that issue? Especially if the left wants to get everyone to go EV

Sorry, that is one ugly car.

The IONIQ6 is a nice car, certainly better than most EVs, and deserves to sell a boatload.

It's range is about on par with a Tesla Model 3 LR (361 vs 358 miles, EPA), charging speed is decent (225 kW vs 250 kW max for Tesla M3) and much better than any Toyota EV, and Cd shows some aero work has been done (.22 vs .23 for Tesla M3), although it needs a lower Cd to cope with the larger frontal area.

But all this hoopla for a paltry 3 miles of addtional EPA range? For a car that's much, much less fun to drive (0-60 in 7.2 vs 4.3 s). Grasping at straws, I think.

The range of that x amount of energy will take you in a given vehicle is not the real issue. Every vehicle has a range dependent on how much energy in can carry. The real issue and deal breaker is the availabilty of fuel when and where it is needed and the time required to re-fuel. Regardless of the range at some point one must re-fuel.
Sorry guys. At this point the EVs are just for piddling around close to home.

Wow. 7.2 seconds 0-60?? My 2017 Infiniti QX50 will beat that by over almost two whole seconds

I just drove from Minnesota to Florida in an old fashioned ICE car. I made it - no issues. If I had been in an EV I would have perished from range anxiety or at least still be out there looking for a charging station somewhere in rural Iowa, Missouri, Tennesse or Arkansas. Give me a hybrid please.

That's quite an achievement for Hyundai with the Ioniq 6! Outperforming the Tesla Model 3 in terms of electric range is significant, considering Tesla's strong reputation in electric vehicle innovation and performance. The Ioniq 6 reaching an EPA range of 361 miles not only highlights Hyundai's advancements in EV technology but also marks a notable moment in the electric vehicle market. It indicates that competition is heating up, and consumers are set to benefit from a wider range of options when it comes to long-range electric vehicles. Hyundai seems to be making a strong statement with the Ioniq 6, targeting one of the most recognized names in the industry.
