Which Hybrid Plug in is the best over all?

This will be the last car I will buy. I am looking at full EV and Hybrid. I really like Subaru, but the price of Soltera is too high. The CrossTrek doesn't have oomph. I drove a used Toyota Prime Plug in Hybrid and I really liked it. BUT the dealers in Northern Nevada want $70K for it. Northern Calif as well. WHY?
My real question is if someone out there, especially auto tech people which Hybrid Plug in is the best over all? Money, power, ranges. I'm not going EV because they are priced too high. I did really love the Subaru Soltera over the Tesla. My sisters won't consider any other EV.
