Doh, either much older or much newer than my cars.

Go to the classic cars forum, and make an offer there...I know some old diesel heads pop in now and then.

    Steve,
That page looks good. Here are some other sources, even though the manufacturer's tech sites can be expensive.

    Hello everyone,

I new to this site but really hoping to get some useful information. I have a 1989 Mercedes 300E that is really working my nerve lately  . I'm having several issues with it but I'll start with the thumpiing noise the car makes when it goes from 2nd to 3rd gear and vice versa.

I've been having to monitor the trans fluid because I'd been filling that every week or so. When I took it to the trans shop the mechanic put the car up on the rack and told me the reason the car was using so much fluid was because there was a leak around the modulator and the governor.

Could the noise be related to the leaks?
Could the leaks be associated with loose bolts/gaskets?
And would adjusting my kickdown cable make any difference?

    :confuse:

    Welcome to CarSpace Truckergirl.

For that vintage Mercedes, I'd ask over in the Transmission Traumas? discussion. The host there (Mr Shiftright) knows a lot about the older Mercedes. Good luck!

    Hi, mercbenz190dsl,

This topic's about maintenance manuals, so you might want to ask your question in the Got a Quick, Technical Question? topic in our Maintenance & Repair Forum instead. Or type your question in the "Ask the Community" box on the right side of this page.
