Does anyone know what causes these marks? They seem like burn marks to me but I don't know what's causing them, and therefore how to prevent more appearing

    Not sure what caused the mark originally but magnifying your photo reveals scratches that suggest someone has tried to do something with it. It's hard to tell from a photo like this but I wouldn't be surprised if the clearcoat has been stripped off.
