in ct, governor reinstated some state tax, up to 3.19x x=9.
Roopville, Ga.
Usually Alabama's gas prices are higher, but State of Georgia just raised fuel taxes... We is po' but proud.
Use gullible news writers with faxes about doom and gloom. News writers put story into form for talking head to read with and-of-world-possible look on her face. Instant propaganda machine for oil cartels.
It's better than actually looking for news around the area to report on radio and TV. They don't have to pick up their donuts and styrofoam coffee cup to go out and look for news.

It seems very clear to me why prices are going up -- demand is increasing at a ferocious pace now that China is poised to pass Japan as the #2 largest market of cars. They do have 1.3 billion people there, you know.
Like it or not, the end days are approaching for oil, and we squandered a good 30 years keeping our heads in the sand.

The gas pricing has two factions each who benefit from higher prices. The current administration has many friends in the oil business who benefit from the huge profits, allegedly to help fund searching for more oil and fuels. The Minority party benefits from higher prices with more unrest with current administration for November's elections. Otherwise, IIHO the pressure from the Minority party would have been on to do something about oil prices. But they have an interest in an oppressed, poor populace voting against the president et al in November.
Since the discussion is gas prices this is on topic.
Too our local prices went from 3.05 to 2.95. Guess they've decided the Korean guy isn't going to have a missile make it to US mainland any time soon so they can reduce the price a little.
2014 Malibu 2LT, 2015 Cruze 2LT,
Don't even ask about premium, I don't think I can count that high.
What's so scary is that I am about to buy a new car this month - a Mazda CX-7 - and I don't think it can take regular. Oh well, such is life!! I drive about 300+ miles a week to work so I've certainly had to adjust my budget for other expenditures accordingly as gas prices continue to rise. On the weekends, my husband and I now plan very carefully how to run our errands, so that we're making the most efficient use of the car.
I know we still pay a lot less per gallon than folks in Europe, but it still hurts!
I work very hard at a job I love, as does my husband. We're very fortunate to own our home and we are planning carefully for our retirement and as well as for our son's education. We keep close track of our money and how we're spending and saving it. All I'm saying is that the price of gas has affected us, as I'm sure it has everyone else. So please - no more wisecracks about Connecticut. We're all in this together.
The price of fuels in Europe et al is not relevant to the price here. The taxes are different.

Review your vehicle
1970: Guy pulls up in a beautiful red 1970 Buick LeSabre convertible. The price of fuel is 31 cents. It's a full-service station and the dapper attendant in a snappy pressed uniform and cap thoroughly goes over the car - checks the oil, lubes the chassis, cleans the glass, vacuums the interior, checks the tire pressure, tops-off the radiator, fills the tank, etc. The the attendant, full of grease and oil asks, "Anything else sir?" The customer says, "No." And the attendant says, "That'll be $4.00. Thank you! Come again!"
1975: Guy pulls up in a yellow 1975 Camaro. The price of fuel is 65 cents. A sign on the gas station reads "Mini-Service." The customer asks for help, and the surly, unshaven attendant in a wrinkled, dirty uniform sitting on a stack of tires reading a newspaper tells the customer to cram it. The customer gets mad and says, "What about your sign that says 'mini service?'" The surly attendant barks back, "That means I'll serve you if you're a midget, otherwise, bug off!" The customer threatens the attendant and then the attendant grudgingly fills the man's car and wipes his dirty sleeve across the windshield smearing it with grease, "That'll be $10.00! Pay up!"
1979: Guy pulls up in a white VW Rabbit. The price of fuel is $1.49. There is no attendant as the place is now self-serve. The man doesn't know how to work the pump and fumbles aimlessly with nobody to help him.

A "perfect" new vehicle for today's gas prices (just saw one yesterday. MSRP close to $ 50K):
Dodge Ram 1500 SRT-10 quad cab pickup. Viper V10 engine with 500 HP. 4 Speed auto transmission. Sticker mileage: 9 MPG city, 12 MPG highway. Requires premium fuel.
Realistically, when driven aggressively, you will never see double digit mileage in this truck.
Who do they make these dumb vehicles for? This makes Hummer look like a Geo Metro in comparison.
What did oil close at today?

And rest assured that Bush and his oil friends will not impose any price controls on gas unless the country simply comes to a standstill.
So brace yourself for another 20-30 cent/gallon price increase. It is coming VERY SOON - to a gas station near you.
And do not forget - we are already into the next hurricane season. This means that a hurricane could hit and damage oil refineries somewhere. And even a low probability of a hurricane hit is already a good enough reason to raise the gas prices again. SOOOOON!!!!!!!
I got my 93-octane Getty for $2.93 Wed., and it went up $0.02 yesterday. 87 octane is $2.77 I believe.
Almost directly across the road, Citgo is at $2.91. Go figure!
Meanwhile, not too many miles down the road, an old-fashioned Chevron service station (like where they used to fix cars) has closed its doors.

you can use

application to get the best prices in your area.
It sure sucks when you buy gas and then two blocks from there, you see it 20 cents lower/gal.
3.785 liters per Yankee gallon
Maximum Speed Limit on the island = 110 KPH
You do the math!

For the last four months straight. It's easily $1.20 higher than a year ago.
We're still at $2.68 for the no-name 87 at the car wash (central VA). And Shell is going for $2.72, less than some of the off-brands.
Upon typing that I think I saw one yesterday in neighboring Chubbuck, ID, selling 87 no-lead for $2.77/gal.

The legislators receiving financial support from and companies who are manufacturing ethanol at a now higher price (+45%) than ever thank you for the profits, even though it doesn't do anything for gasoline conservation IMHO.
Our prices are down from $3.05 to $2.83 as the lowest in the area. $2.90 is nominal price now. That's stations without ethanol.
