car turns over but will not start

I have a mazda 626 2002. my car turns over but will not start. I know this is bad but i did start it with starting fluid one time. it stayed running i drove it. then when it totally cooled down it would not start again. any suggestions on what it could be.

I could type for an hour giving suggestions of what it "could be" what you need to do is figure out what it is.

Do you have a scan tool and can you pull codes and see engine control data?

If so are there any codes set and can you post them?

If you can look at data, does the data make sense of the current conditions? Such as do the engine coolant and air temperatures reflect the current temperatures? Do you see an engine rpm of 100 to 200rpm while cranking?

Can you check for spark with a spark tester?

Do you hear the fuel pump run when you turn the key on without cranking the engine? Does it turn back on when you are cranking the engine?
