Engine automatically stops after long idling?

I heard that some new cars, not sure about makes and models, have the new feature that if you leave the engine idling for too long, like 20 or 30 minutes, the engine will stop, because the car maker thinks idling is bad, which is true. But isn't it horrible if someone leaves his child or pet in the car with A/C on, and goes for grocery shopping for instance? I suspect this accident

was caused by this new feature.

    Nope, the problem was the dad, not the car. One should NEVER leave a child in a car, running or not.
