Does anyone have this problem?

My 2021 bmw 540i lose brake assist right after start up. Took it to the deal they said the "Vacuum/oil pump failing internally. fault for brake booster pressure switch, no brake boost" and want $4500 to fix it.

I did some searching and find this recall

although my car is not on the list the problem I have match what the recall is talking about. I'm trying to get the dealer to get a BMW representative involved in this matter. Not sure if it will help

Other vehicles can have a failure that is very similar to ones covered in a recall and not be part of the recall. When a recall is issued there is generally some problem that is identified that is traced back to an individual sub-component or assembly operation in a specific batch of parts which leads to a high percentage of failures. Other vehicles that had parts made from a different company or had a revision in the assembly process would not be subject to that same recall and it is very easy for the manufacturers to track what vender's parts went into which vehicles by the VIN. (vehicle identification number)

All you can do is ask and it's up to the manufacturer to decide if they will extend the warranty or not. They are tracking every repair and if the frequency of a given failure rises to specific percentage of vehicles, then it is possible a different recall could be in the future.

That is what i'm doing and hoping they cover it. If not I will just take the car to an independent repair shop. $4500 is just too high to replace a Vacuum/oil pump
