Ford Bronco vs Jeep Liberty. Towing capacity, power, gas bill, reliability

Okay I know Americans have strong opinions on Jeeps, some say they are junk, others love them.
Well I fall in to the second category. I've had 3 in a row- two Wranglers, and now a Jeep Liberty.
My Liberty is a 2004, I got it during a period of hardship and it still looks good and drives well after repairs here and there, but has a LOT of undercarriage rust. I think the previous owner must have been up in the saltlands (aka Michigan winters etc). So much so the writing is on the wall, and I need to trade up to a newer car.

So the problem is, I just really like the Jeep Liberty. I like everything about it- the way it rides, the 4wd, towing capacity, looks and all that. So much so I'd get another one- but they discontinued them in 2012.
I don't like the newer Jeep models so much, and frankly I'm ready for a change.

I put in my AI search, "What is the modern car most like a Jeep liberty today?" and the answer came back, the Ford Bronco Sport. Its a bit smaller, but, says the computer, better fuel efficiency and better reliability.

Do you agree?
This is what worries me. I have a small property management business and a 4 x 4 trailer I use a lot, for hauling furniture, carpentry repairs, and on. Its not a big trailer, but its road licensed. The Jeep Liberty says it has a towing capacity of 5000 lbs. But the Ford Bronco Sport says only 2200.
Is this enough for a 4 x 4 trailer, and loads? I can't seem to get a straight answer anywhere.

What about the engine on a Ford Bronco Sport. I hear it can have 3 or 4 cylinders "turbo charged", whereas the Liberty has 6. I'm thinking this is bad, but is it apples to apples. What am losing going to this vehicle if say I found a 2020.

Now bear in mind the 5000 capacity probably isn't true for my Liberty, as it has so much carriage rust underneath right. And if you want to hate on Ford Broncos, what would you recommend instead as a budget replacement. What I really need for the work I do is a small SUV with towing and AWD or 4WD capacity.
