Ford Edge Gas Tank Problems

My 2007 Edge will not fill the last two or three gallons without going in at small spurts at a time. Dealer referred to Ford Motor Co. as normal for this vehicle. My daughter in law has same vehicle and does not have the same problem. Does anyone else have the same problem.

Some pumps just go to fast and air pressure builds up.

Try pumping at less than full blast.

    Mark.

Yes. Drives my wife nuts when I put the last couple of gallons in ounce by ounce. I'll either stop pumping when it clioks off, or spend the extra few minutes adding those last gallons.

Does this only happen when the tank is almost full or at empty, I have been through horrible nightmare with another ford product. , Has this been happening since you bought the car, My problem began when I tried to fill it up and then finally got to 1/8 and at empty also the pump would just shut off. I couldnt even get any gas in at empty or 1/8 either. Please let me know befor I make another mistake...

I had the same problem with my 2006 Mustang. It has something to do with the "saddle" tank. The dealer can do something with the fill tube. If all else fails, turn the gas nozzle upside down and fill. That seems to work for some reason. Lot of information about it in the allfordmustangs.com Forums.

My Edge gas gauge does the same thing. When the pump cuts off I always round it off. Last time it showed about halfway between 3/4th and full. I drove it a few miles and looked down and it was dead on full. Weird..I also seem to get better gas mileage if I don't top it off?? Right at 22MPG

What type gasoline does this vehicle require for the AWD? I can't find it on their websit.

this could cure it if you have the patience to do all this

Common blockage issues are with the canister close valve and the canister filter. But you could also have a defective fuel cut valve in the tank or a blocked canister. You could also have a problem with a restricted hose or pipe either not allowing proper venting or not allowing the fuel to enter the tank properly."

I have a 2007 Ford Edge and it has the same problem except for mine shuts off frequently from start to finish whether their is gas in the car or it's almost empty...I took it to dealer and they said that a line has to be blown out that gets clogged so they did that and it seemed to fix the problem but I wonder how often it will have to be taken in to have this "line" blown out....after warranty expires....who pays for it.

Just find the line you Can do it yourself with a bicycle pump about every 2 years.

And they don't just magically clog up. It's usually from mud underneath the vehicle. Just clean underneath and blow out the vent hose every so often as 99accent suggests.

Have had my Ford Edge SE 4WD for 8 months. About 4 months ago, I started having the same legendary problem that many people have experienced - the nozzle will just keep clicking off while i fill the tank. I tried everything, including pulling the nozzle back a little, holding it from different angles, and etc. It just keep clicking off every few gallons. I don't want to top it off, so I normally will just put in about 14 gallons when empty knowing that it is a 18 gallon tank. Even with 14, the meter will show full after filling. My distance to empty used to be around 350 and now it is down to 260. It is pretty frustrating not knowing when it is truly full or not. I sent the car in to the deader once. They did a computer test and didn't find anything. I do plan to talk to the dealer again, but want to know if anybody has some insights, or is it just one of those pains that i have to live with...

I have a 2011 Ford Edge Limited. I am having problems refilling the gas tank. I have only had the car about a month and the refill amount is very inconsistent. When I was 25 miles from empty I was only able to get 15 gallons in and that was pushing it. Next I was able to get 16.1 but gas came out the bottom like it was overfull. The next time the pump shut off at 17.1 and no gas came out the bottom. Today as soon as I started to fill gas was dripping like a leaky faucet from a small tube under the car even with only a couple gallons being in. The pump shut off at 14.8 gallons and I was about 10 miles from empty according to the car fuel meter. The car estimates 377 miles until empty no matter how much fuel it takes before the pump shuts off but realistically I'm getting 290 miles per "full" tank. I took it to the dealer and they ran an EVAP test which came back fine, and they said they won't do anything until it fails the test. Any thoughts??? I know the tank isn't full when it's coming out the bottom.

Hi all, recntly noticed my gas tank on my 2008 Edge SEL is leaking. One of the corners is all bubbled and a very slow drip coming out.
Can anyone tell me what I should expect for cost to have it replaced??

    Thx!
