2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee MAJOR Problems

My JGC is currently in the shop after complaining
3 times about oil leaks and having it dismissed as
an oil filter leak, sloppy oil change, and finally
they said changing the rear main engine seal would
work - NOT - now it is in the shop to have the
engine replaced because it is "porous". Anyone
ever heard of this? Brake pedal goes to the floor
after a lot of stop and go traffic, they are
replacing the master cylinder while replacing the
engine! Any one else having or heard of these
problems? HELP!

I've heard of transmissions leaking because the casting of the housing was porous. I suppose the engine block could do the same since it is a casting also but the oil collects in the pan which is separate. The rest just gets splashed.

The brake master cylinder obviously was defective.

Added to all the other posts about GCs it doesn't look good.

    Rich,

You will find MANY topics in this conference about Jeep Cherokees, Grand and otherwise. Please use the search fuction on the left-hand side bar and search for Jeep and cherokee (two different searches..) and you will find many discussions ongoing. You will get a MUCH better response by joining one of those discussions. That's kinda the way Town Hall works, we prefer in-depth discussions to short question-answer posts.

Yes, every other one seems to be a lemon, sorry to say.
