I had a sunrood added to my 08 Veracruz (purchased in feb 09) here in Atlanta. I got it done through the dealer for $950 (their cost). The brand of sunroof/moonroof is Solaire. It look like a factory job and is far nicer than I expected. No problems with the overhead vents and they were even able to integrate the switch onto the map light console.

I'm looking to get a bug shield and vent visors for my 08 Limited. I assume folks have purchased these. Do you have any recommendations on brands, and where did you purchase? To that end, our you satisfied with how they make the car look? I found a few results online, but they look pretty lame.

Thanks for any info you can provide.

I also have an 08 limited and I put the vent visors and bug shield on, I purchased them from Wheather Tech, they are the best you can get. They do not go on the outside but go on the inside track so the dont cover the crome around the windows.

Any updates on this? I just bought a 2008 GLS, and I'm tempted to just buy the roof rails online for 80 bucks and take them to a body shop to see if they can install them. Anyone tried this?

The roof rails you mention are most likely NOT the side rails, instead they are the CROSS rails. You should be able to purchase the side rails from a cooperative dealer's parts and/or body shop, but I'm sure they would be outrageously expensive. I think I would look at a Thule or Yakima roof rack system as a more reasonable and rugged alternative.

I'm no car expert, but these look like ROOF rails to me.

Thanks for the info. I took your advice on the vent visors. Easy to install and they look great! :shades: I haven't decided if I want a bug shield yet...

I saw this on a hyundai accessory retailer's website. It looks like the OEM leather, but I cannot tell for sure. Does anyone have any opinions?

    http://www.koreanautoimports.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=31_43_59&products_- id=273

I can't even really tell if it is leather or vinyl...

    Has anyone purchased this item?

    Thanks

    No, it is not.
These are leather seat covers made to resemble OEM materials, but they can't be the same thing. I have a Veracruz with factory leather, and looking closely at the pictures on this website, I can see many areas (especially around the seat belts on the back seats) where this product differs significantly from OEM. Actually, the more you examine these pictures, the more differences you see; for example, where do they get those giant rear seat headrests? The stitch patterns are also quite different than OEM, and they even differ between the gray and tan examples.

The pictures show two different seat sets. Also, since when did the Veracruz have a 5-passenger model?
  • bjonezbjonez Member Posts: 2
so I emailed them and they said

"Thanks for your inquiry. KMELSP1 is the OEM leather seating used on the
vehicle, it is not genuine leather. These kits do require your existing
clotht to be removed before installation. We highly recommend these kits
be installed by a professional auto upholstery company."

So they aren't seat covers, but they are synthetic. Are the "leather" seats in the un-upgraded SE real leather? If so it confirms that these aren't the oem seats.

In addition, the seats are offered in a 5 seat or 7 seat option. If you look at the bottom of the page there is an option to pay $120 more for the 3rd row seating.

Does anybody know where I can get a remote start for my 09 Veracruz Limited AWD. :confuse:
  • steadyeddiesteadyeddie Member Posts: 3
I just pruchased a 2008 Limited that has the RES. Purchased fm the dealer w/2300 miles and it was considered a demonstator. I did not get the remote control or the 2 sets of wireless headsets with the car. My question is does anyone know it these items come with the RES or are they considered optional equip? I can't get a stright answer from the dealer. Thanks for your help.

I had the same issue when I purchased my '07 Veracruz demo. The headphones and remote were located inside the storage compartment in the rear of the vehicle, just inside the hatch. If you haven't checked already...check there. They were inside a small white box...never opened.

I've had work done from an outstanding auto sound specialist/remoter starter, etc. I had a remoter starter in the car I traded for my VC Limited and they told me that there isn't a remote started or after market sound system for the VC at this time. They are doing research on these thing but so far, no luck. If someone finds one, please let me know.

    Thanks

Do you happen to have any pics of what the clips look like, or exactly how you pry the vent off? I've tried for over an hour using your suggestions, along w/ others, and the vent has never moved a hair.

I know I've found where the clips should be, it's jut getting the leverage to pop it out. Almost to the point of taking it to the dealership.

    Thanks,

    James

The shift knob will come off by pulling up on it. It is held in place by a spring loaded ball. It takes some effort, but it will come off.

did you try the above roof rail? if so, how was the installation? thx!

Thanks for the suggestion... It required drilling so I think I'm going to wait for the pros to do it. Thanks!

my 09 sonata leather seat, drivers side, is already showing some cracking. 6700miles.. six months old. The cracking looks to be the grey color, not actually the leather but it does not look repairable with conditioning. dealer is not being cooperative. says normal wear and tear..normal...just condition it etc. maintenance instructions say cleaning with soap and water only care necessary. obviously this is a problem and not making me a happy camper. anyone else have this problem? did the warranty cover it. one of the selling statements was that leather is sooo durable and easy to care for. hmmm :(

I just purchased a 2008 veracruz limited. I have trouble seeing the blue display of the clock and outside temperature. Is there anyway to turn up the brightness of the total display.

I have just bought a 2008 VC with 20,000 miles and find the blue boxes on the instrument panel TOO bright and distracting even in day, light.

I have a 2008 Hyundai Veracruz Limited. I'm looking at purchasing a bike rack to hold three bikes. I'm concerned if I purchase a bike rack that connects to the hatch, the top hooks go onto what seems to be the plastic that covers the hatch door. This is the plastic that has the third brake light in the middle. The bottom and side hooks seem OK as these connect directly to the hatch.

I'm assuming hooking onto the plastic that covers the hatch is OK, but still wanted to ask.

If this is not OK, anyone have suggestions for bike racks I can add to the crossbars on my roof?

    Thank you.

I personally would avoid hatch mounting as the plastic will more than likely not be strong enough for repeated uses.

I'd go roof mount and get either Yakima or Thule components. I have a Yakima setup that's pushing 20 years old and it's great.

IMO, forget about racks that connect to the hatch. Also, on SUVs, roof mounting racks are not very practical (due to the height of the vehicle).

Buy and install 2" hitch, and buy hitch mounted rack. Hitch + hitch mounted rack may end up costing less then a roof mounting system (depending what you get). You can buy reasonable priced hitch from places like U-haul, and they have free installation if you buy hitch from them (trust me, you do want somebody else to install hitch for you).

Actually, I usually recommend getting a hitch and hitch mounted rack even to people with smaller cars (almost all cars have factory made mounts for the hitch on the frame).

As for the bike rack, any hitch mounted rack from Yakima or Thule should do. If you want more than two bikes on a rack, 2" hitch is required for some types of hitch mounted racks. I have Yakima HoldUp with HoldUp plus extension (total of 4 bikes). Nice thing with HoldUp is that when you don't need more than two bikes on the rack, you can easily take extension off. Another thing with this rack is it's easy to put bikes on and off the rack, and there's no way a bike can get scratched on it (like on some types of racks where bikes "hang" on top tube). Thule has similar rack too.

There's also few hitch mounted racks that can swing sideways to allow for easy access to the trunk (which is a common problem with bike racks on SUVs).

I realize this is a very old post, but did you ever come up with a solution for a cargo area cover for your Veracruz. I just bought a 2011, and I am interested in covering the cargo area somehow. Thanks.
  • aabruzzeseaabruzzese Member Posts: 16
Unfortunately I never found anything, but I stopped looking after the first year. You may have better luck. Good luck with your 2011! I have 60k on my '07 and don't have any complaints.
  • jonnygurujonnyguru Member Posts: 1
I agree with acdii. I have an '07 Vera Cruz and the rear wiper is NOT a standard attachment. The fronts are standard, though the 20" passenger side can be hard to find with the right connector.

$15 per blade at the dealer with free installation is a STEAL! Cheap blades are about $10 each. Decent ones like RainX, Michelin and Bosch are almost $15, and quite honestly the Hyundai OEM ones are better than Bosch. If I could get blades installed for $15 each, I'd go that option myself!

I just wanted to reply and say "Thank you!!!!" this post is highly accurate even for a new '2011 VC Limited. It is a shame that the directions are so unclear!

    Thanks Again. You ROCK!
