Lincoln LS Accessories & Modifications
I read where some 2000 owners installed the second power point in the rear of the console.
Any detail on this mod would be appreciated.

Thanks, Rick
I installed a set of Inifinty 572 reference series 5 X 7's in the doors and a 10" sub in the trunk with no problems. It really sounds excellent.
As far as the radio controls, there is a switch that allows you to scroll through the presets, either up or down. It is on the back side of the steering wheel, not the front. It is exactly the same switch as the on that turns the cruise control on and off on the left side. Maybe you just did not realize it is there or maybe there are certain builds options that do not put that switch there. It's worth taking a look.

Sincerest Thanks !

I can't believe they drill holes in the bumper to install them. Even my 86 Acura Integra came with threaded inserts in the bumper that came with covers that could be snapped in to cover the holes if you took it off. Now I'm glad I told the dealer not to install one. They still put the sticker on the trunk but that just peels off. I refuse to advertise for the dealer.

Also, I would like to add a cassette player, believe it or not. Anyone have a suggestion? Currently have the 6 disc in dash Alpine.
Now as to your question. They are seperate and distinct bumpers. Even the side marker lights are a different size. The easiest and probably least expensive way to get the monochromatic look is to have the chrome strips painted. I needed a new front bumper courtesy of some 18-wheeler. The bumper alone was $425 from the dealer. There is a place called www.bumpers.com (I believe) that sells factory "seconds" for around $100. Then you'd have to repalce the front marker lights.
Tisk, Tisk on Ford/Lincoln. If you want to compete with the luxury market - keep the paper speakers for your Taurus.
If so check out this link for a "how to"

Yeah that is what I'm looking for. Was it hard to cut off the curved exhaust tips and to cut out the plastic?
I am thinking of giving up my old BMW 735 to go with an LS. The BMW is great but really is not that much fun in the city.
So, I wanted to find a 5 speed but am told they are impossible to find - I found one in Chicago but really would like to drive it to see if I like the shift action - is it really long in action like an escort or tight like a miata? Are there short shift kits available? Any ideas on where to find a manual?
I drove an 01 V8 and must say the power was nice and the transmissoin was much smoother than I would have suspected given some of the poor reviews. But, I did here a bit of a drone on the highway - seemed like it might be the tires but I worried it might be the tranny. Any thoughts on this? Which leads to the broader question, are there any buying guide tips for the LS out there?
Thanks in advance for any help!
Thanks
I have a Lincoln LS 2000 V8 automatic transmission and I am looking for a gear knob woodgrain who will fit on this model at a reasonable price.
Thanks for your help.
There is a new one being manufactured out of stainless by a SMALL (part-time in a garage) outfit in Tennesee. The welder is disabled and unable to work, so he is doing this to bring in a little money. From what I've heard, the performance of it is even better than mine. They have also started work on a cold-box, also stainless. Should be ready for market soon.
The latest (this weekend, actually) dyno numbers show about a 30 hp increase from the combination of the intake and Maggies.
