Got prices all over the state of Florida, Tampa, Jacksonville, Miami, everywhere but nobody would beat this

Southeastern Honda and Ron Norris Honda offered this and nobody would touch or really even come within a Thousand dollars

I have gone back and forth emailing with Keeler Honda in Latham,NY. Every one of my many emails very specifically said "Your price of $23,358 for a 2006 Odyssey EX-L is excellent." And every time I replied, I included all new info and recalculated the price with any new fee or option (crossbars). I was careful to be specific as I felt this was a real negotiation that we would both abide by. After a week of emails, I got a phone call just as I was leaving for the dealership with the salesman saying "The price in the emails is wrong. That 3 should have been an 8 -- it's $28,358. Maybe 28K is an OK price but I feel the guy absolutely lied and violated any trust that could ever be mustered toward a car saleman. I already had received that price from other dealers. Luckily I did not tell the others I had taken a deal so I can go back and start over. BUT I am very angry that I wasted alot of valuable time. I hope Edmunds can do something to reprimand Keeler or remove them from their trusted dealers list. This internet pricing did not help me at all and hurt me because now my privacy is violated by my email address having gone out.

after some uncomfortable talks, and pushing by sales person to buy a color I didn't wanted, ended up getting a 2006 EX-L with RES for $29229.25 including delivery...in ocean mist color... In Framingham, Massachusetts

Internet pricing on this vehicle was 29700, but only for vehicles in stock, I told them to find a car in the color I wanted, and they said they couldn't, so I left and they called 2 days later, and I got the deal stated above....

paid 299 for title, documentation, state inspeciton etc.

This website is very helpful. I was wondering if there is any faq or sample on sending dealer emails to quote price and get a deal? Thanks! :)
  • cccompsoncccompson Member Posts: 2,382
Well, MSRP on an EX-L is $31,345 and invoice is $28,258. Your quoted price (including dealer fee) is $29,340.50 (or about $1100 over invoice). Not that it matters but that is way high compared to Ohio where I live.

I was shopping for my father last March and got a quote from the Daytona Beach store of about $700 over invoice without breaking a sweat. That was only on the first round of emails and, as it turned out, he didn't buy for unrelated reasons.

Perhaps the market has changed (I hope so because I have many family members living in the area) but the Palm Bay dealer in particular is/was notorious for high prices and come-on ads.

Sounds like a fair deal. Enjoy your new Ody!
  • bpflabpfla Member Posts: 4
The quote I had was for the EX-L RES it has the rear DVD and the invoice is $29,146 excluding Destination charge. The price I have is $28,996 not counting any fees or taxes, but including Destination. Why am I paying over invoice. The out the door price is $31,174.15 that includes everything, then I'm over invoice. Are you saying that you got quoted for an EX-L RES including DEALER FEES, SALES TAX, STATE FEES, and Tag Transfer for $700 under invoice. I'd really need to have the name of that dealership. Yes, That paticular dealership usally does have high prices and started real high, but match my lowest price in the end, which is what matters.

    Internet Price $28,996
    Sales tax $1,739.76
    State fees $ 8.89
    Dealer fees $ 344.50
    Tag transfer $ 85.00
    Total price $ 31,174.15

Maybe Im missunderstanding you, but are you aking the board why you are paying over invoice? Sounds like you are getting a very fair deal to me. Dont stress over paying a couple hundred bucks over invoice. Just enjoy your new vehicle.

    Hi Netto,

I am interested in buying a 2006 EX. Yours is pretty good deal. Especialy the rear camera. Is that an option included in your 25,545? How does it break up? The roof rack I think is standard with EX. Thx! :)
  • cccompsoncccompson Member Posts: 2,382
Well, bpfla, I made the mistake, based on your previous posts, of assuming you were quoting figures for an EX-L, not an EX-L RES. Obviously, you've a great price (especially for Florida) and should jump on it.

It's good to see the market there is changing for the better!

Where in PA is Faulkner Honda located?
  • turnagainarmturnagainarm Member Posts: 7
If I buy a car in PA for example and then bring it back to my home state of OH, do I pay sales tax for both PA and OH or just the difference (if any) between the two. Also, is it true that there is no sales tax for out of state buyers in MD?

You pay sales tax when you register the vehicle in your state.

Just paid 25,402 for EX, and was happy to do so. Got a quote from internet pricing from Edmunds and Carsmart.com. Picked one, they honored it, then we haggled over the price of the tradein.
  • starchild2starchild2 Member Posts: 2
to be clear,it was 2006 and included 'delivery.'

Just purchased the EX-L for 28k including freight and processing fee at Criswell Honda in Germantown, MD. Very positive experience. I have nothing but praise for the dealership.

If you know anybody looking for a Honda stay away from Southeastern Honda in Palm Bay, Fl unless your paying cash and love to sit in a cubicle all day. Every time he left if was for 15-20 min and we were only discussing the trade. When it was all said and done they came in way to low and went up to slow. They finally gave me this is the best we will do and it's for today only, so I left. I went to Ron Norris Honda in Titusville about 45 min north and they were excellent. Smaller dealerships so the fees were lower, only dealer fee was $344, and alot better atmosphere less pressure. If you know somebody looking I would recommend Mike Erdman Toyota - Good buying experience with my truck and Ron Norris Honda.

We purchased an '06 EX-L R&N Sage Brush/Olive from Breakaway Honda in Greenville, SC last weekend and had a great experience! We ended up paying $31,000 including destination and out OTD price including Doc fee and TTL was $33,110.

We live northeast of Atlanta so it was a little over 1 1/2 hour drive to the dealership to pick up the van but totally worth it. Great experience! I would also recommend Carey Paul Honda in Snellville, GA for someone not wanting to travel too far outside the Atlanta area. They were great to work with and while they were close in price, they just weren't close enough to make it worth me staying so close to home.

    Hi

If you are looking for the best price for Honday Odyssey EX-L (with no other options) we could get it for 27,650 (including destination charges but excluding Tax and License fee) i.e almost $600 under invoice. I could get this price for a friend of mine because we bought a similar vehicle from the same dealership around 3 months back. (So not sure if everyone could get this price)

So if you are shopping around in San Francisco Bay area this is the best price you could look for

    Thanks
    Vasu

Just paid $31,602 including destination charge for 2006 Sage Brush Pearl with Olive interior, Navigation, and RES. My total out the door cost was $33,000 even. I didn't try too hard to push it any lower. After receiving several dealer quotes I just asked my dealer if he could beat the lowest and get me out the door for $33,000. He did and I was happy :) !

Goldsboro Honda, NC is about 50 minutes east of Raleigh
  • cccompsoncccompson Member Posts: 2,382
Yep, that's Southeastern Honda. Glad to hear of your good experience at Ron Norris and your Mike Erdman recommendation because, after two false starts, my father (who lives in Cocoa) may finally be ready to buy a minivan this year.

Honda keeps things pretty close to the vest but best guess is that 2007 Odyssey should hit the ground in September.

Just took delivery of a 2006 EX-L R&N in Silver Pearl Metallic for $32K(w/destination)+TTL, including from Goodson Honda in North Houston. I live in Austin and had a similar offer from Classis Toyota, but didn't want to put down a deposit and wait for delivery. Very happy with my purchase. The van rides/handles great and has much more room than my 2004 AWD Yukon.
  • cds12cds12 Member Posts: 139
A good price would be $400 - $600 under invoice.
  • thebillthebill Member Posts: 194
why is that? why not 2000 under or 100 under.

    whats the difference?
  • seaniseani Member Posts: 5
Thanks. I am getting price quote back from dealers. Working on them. :)
  • cds12cds12 Member Posts: 139
Because from reading posts on edmunds and Odyclub.com $400-$600 under invoice is about as good a deal you can expect.

The difference between $2000 under and $100 under is $1,900.

According to some of the recent posts, a good target price on an Odyssey would be approx $500 under invoice. This past weekend I was shopping the Odyssey and was offered what I thought was a fair deal (or at least a good starting point for further negotiations) of several hundred above invoice. If there is currently no manufacturer to dealer incentives in place, what should we be using as a bargaining chip/justification to get to this target area of below invoice? Would this target price of approx $500 below invoice also include the 'destination fee'? According to edmunds, the destination fee on an Odyssey in my region (NC) is $550.
  • cds12cds12 Member Posts: 139
The barganing chip would be another dealer selling for $500 under invoice. Yes it includes the destination fee.
  • thebillthebill Member Posts: 194
all vehicles are sold including destination....

everyone here knows my stance on pricing of new hondas....lol

all of these quotes are from dealerships all over the country. why would a dealership in VA honor a price in AZ?

If someone came into my dealership (midwest) and offered of 500 under invoice because thats what someone supposedly was quoted in San Diego, why would that make me match that?

    im confused
  • cccompsoncccompson Member Posts: 2,382
What's to be confused about, thebill? Some stores will price match, others won't. I've found that some stores are more than happy to make a sale to an out of town buyer because it is a sale they otherwise would never have made.
  • thebillthebill Member Posts: 194
i understand that all stores would be happy to sell to an out of town buyer. I do it everyday, I still negotiate a fair profit however.

I meant that if I had a customer from my hometown(midwest) asking me to match an offer that someone on this board saw from AZ, how likely is it that they would actually go to AZ to get that deal for a few hundred bucks cheaper????

Lowest I've found so far on a EX-L RES & NAV out the door is $32,589, which includes $399 doc fee & $550 destination (add TTL), do you think I can do better,

    Thanks in Advance!
  • rviradiarviradia Member Posts: 44
Did the $31,602 include doc fee also, I'm trying to find the best OTD price without TTL

I'm sorry, thebill, for misinterpreting your commments. And I quite agree that it's unlikely that your local customer would go across country to save a few hundred dollars.

However, it's a much different story, it seems to me, when the distance involved is only a couple of hundred miles, as is true for much of the Midwest. Living in Columbus, I'm within two hundred or so miles of Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Detroit, Indianapolis, Louisville, and Cincinnati. There's alot of stores (and competition) within that radius.

I am thinking about buying an Odyssey. I would really like to have power adjustable pedals but cannot afford a Touring. Does anyone know if this can be added to an EX-L. I am only 5 feet tall so adjustable pedals would be very useful for me.

We just picked up our 2006 EX-L Slate Green Metallic Odyssey from Herb Chambers Honda in Seekonk,MA today and I thought I'd share our experience. We got a price of $27,500 which included the destination fee, plus addt'l doc. fees of 230 something dollars.(sorry don't have the paper in front of me)

They were AWESOME!!! No pressure, polite and respectful, and helpful. It was a real pleasure working with them.

Let me also share the name of some dealers who were awful.
Boch Honda in Norwood,MA. They started off great. Got us a vehicle to test drive quickly. Once we got back and sat down to talk, he would not give us a price unless we committed to buying that night. He said "I just don't give out prices unless I know your serious" I told him fine, we're outta here and he quickly went to get a sales manager who wasn't much better.

Another one to stay clear of is Silko Honda in Raynham,MA. They gave me an online quote if $27,800 incl. destination charges, but not incl. the addt'l $244 in fees. The salesman was fine until we asked him to tell us how much they would give us for our trade. He kept waiting quit awhile only to tell us they would give us $500. We laughed, got up to leave, and told him thanks but NO thanks. Of course he went running to a sales manager who came over and proceeded to tell us it was a good deal. We told him what we wanted for our trade to which he didn't agree. When we started to leave he said what if I give you $$$ for your trade (increasing the amt.) will you buy it today. At that point he had been so rude and arrogant with us that he could have offered us what we wanted and we still wouldn't have bought from him.

In the end Herb Chambers in Seekonk beat Silko's price by $200 and gave us what we wanted for our trade with absolutely NO HASSLE. We would highly recommend them.

I'm about to get a new Odyssey. What is the lowest price?I'm in TN and they seem high here :( Has anyone seen the black ones? Are they pretty? Also, do you pay monthly for navigation and the camera? Thanks! Kim
  • animalrescueanimalrescue Member Posts: 11
I've read on the forums where the Odyssey's aren't getting the mileage they say. What are they getting? I really wanted a Suburban but couldn't afford the gas although they can take the E85 gas which costs less and Honda can't. I'm thinking about the 2006 Odyssey EXL R&N. Are all the leather seats heated? If not I might go with cloth..LOL..thanks Kim
  • wwdcatcwwdcatc Member Posts: 35
    Kim,

Samba2 has been doing a great job listing and updating prices paid for this model. The list is below (just for EXL R&N

    34,595 MSRP
    31,123 INVOICE
    33,370 Edmunds TMV
    32,473 Carsdirect-60014
    32,173 Carsdirect-47129
    32,073 Atlanta
32,029 NJ - FREE All weather floor mats
31,173 Cleaveland OH - Mike Pruitt Honda
31,120 Ohio - Honda of Mentor
31,073 Cleaveland OH - Mike Pruitt Honda
31,037 Chicago - Crystal Lake Honda
30,868 Cleaveland OH - Mike Pruitt Honda
30,729 Chicago - Crystal Lake Honda
30,600 Cleaveland OH - Mike Pruitt Honda

I got mine from Mike Pruitt Honda for $30,868. I am having it shipped from Akron, OH to Norther Virginia ($300). I still save about $1500 - 2000 compared to the dealers here, which sells closer to MSRP.

Black van looks very sharp, esp with Ivory Leather...but black scratches easy and is hard to maintain. That is why I chose the silver.

    Hope this helps.

Check out the Odyssey forum titled "Post Your Van Gas Mileage Here", as well as, www.fueleconomy.gov, they list true mileages. I just bought an Odyssey and I'm getting 16 mpg, with the first tank fill (260 miles/16 gal), in 100% city driving, not too bad and the engine is not broken in yet. I know a bit about cars and testing for fuel economy and you shouldn't get too excited about the cost of E85. E85 has less energy per gallon than gasoline, therefore you will get much less gas mileage. So a Suburban that gets 11-15 mpg w/gasoline will get 8-10 mpg with E85 if you drive gently. You can do the math to see if it works out for you. BTW- where do you get E85? I live in the DC metro area with several million other people and there is only one E85 gas station.
