One of the issues that sometimes arise when these things are turned on and off is that a dealer will put together her/his own individual financing offers designed to mirror that of a manufacturer. The money for such a lower rate has to come from somewhere though - the customer's pocket.
Want proof? Just price the same vehicle without the added goodies.
Price of Car = $31,087
Tax = $1,890.22
Tag = $175.00 (new)
Total Out the Door (OTD) = $33,152.22
Has anyone found a better deal?
I hope you are enjoying your Nimbus Grey Odyssey EX-L.
What would be the price of an EXL with RES and with RES/NAVI in Chicagoland. Sounds like O'Hare is the best deal around so does anyone have a quote on this?
Thanks in advance...
Any better quote in the chicago area...
Thanks!

Unfortunately, I missed the Memorial Day Sales and cannot wait for any July 4th specials. I would have like to wait till end of model year to see if I could get an even better deal or to actually wait for the 08's. (Bluetooth and MP3 jack would be nice!) But I had to have the van this week.
Below is the breakdown.
EXL with RES (No Nav)
Nimbus Gray with Olive Leather Interior.
$28,895.81 selling price which includes the destination charge.
$2388.44 Sales Tax (CA Tax of about 8.25%)
$55 Doc Prep Fee
$8.75 CA Tire Fee
$10 CA County Fee
$242 New Veh Lic Fee
The carpet mats which are included
Full Tank of Gas (I think everyone gets this.)
Included Honda Original Cargo Tray
Included Honda Original Weather Mats for 3 rows
$31,600 OTD
Took the 2.9% - 36 months for the entire $31,600.
$918 a month. Total 3 year interest would add up to $1440. No pre-payment penalty after $75 of interest paid.
No trade in.
Purchased at Anderson Honda, Palo Alto, CA
Assisted by Salesman Conway Chan.
Only had to deal with their salesmanship tactics a few times.
Experience with the staff was professional and courteous.
I did not purchase the extended warranty at time of veh purchase. I'm thinking of calling the finance guy the next couple of days and offering $1,000 for 8 yrs/100,000, no deductible, with cash back. Not sure if they will bit...
Robert
Best quote down here in So Cal right now is $27300 out the door, but not sure if they'll try to do the accessories which would raise the total, so debating if June 30 end of month/4th of July weekend may be better or going to another dealer.
Sale Price(29111.00) + Splasg Guards + Other Fees (OTD) = 30,600.00
Purchased Extended warranty for 1340.00 (7 Yrs/100K miles).
I believe I paid a bit extra on warranty.
Hope this helps.
Good luck.
I purchased a certified Honda Odyssey(3 weeks back) from CleoBay Honda,Killeen, TX. At the time of purchase, they had mentioned that they would send the necessary papers for Registration and Title to the department. So there is a sticker at the back of my van stating that the dealer must apply for the title by 06/09. I have not received the registration or title yet. Typically how long does this take. Is there any documentation that I should be carrying with me in the car?
Also, even though the van is Certified, there are no papers in the agreement. The dealer mentioned that the VIN number is the evidence. And when I take it to a dealer, it should be ok. Is this true??
Thanks in advance!
But in the same context, can we dirve the van out of state on the temporary tags ?
can you tell me which dealer you bought your EX at 25,400 in NC? I live in Raleigh, NC. I'd be very happy to get that deal. Thank you so much!
Robert
The $750 dealer incentive that most dealers in Chicago area appeare to be passing on are valid only in specific states. I live in Missouri and that is NOT one of the states that this would be valid in.
This is what I was told by OHare Honda that the incentive applies to only residents of states listed and it's NOT a nationwide promotion like some others are. So if I were to drive to Chicago and buy a car from O'Hare, my Missouri residency prevents me from getting this saving.
If you think this is not the case then please let me know. This caused us to alter our plans entirely!
Bought '07 ody ex-l from Herb Chambers for $27,700 (includes destination) + tax+tags back in March. There were no incentives at that time and this was considered a very good price. I have since seen prices down around $27,200 (w/o $750 incentive). We had received quotes from Boch Honda first and actually went to Boch, but they gave us a run around and wouldn't make the deal we wanted. HC deal was quick and easy - deal was made in about 30 minutes with almost no haggling and were able to drive off the lot with the car an hour later.
Hope this helps, and good luck.
2007 Honda Odyssey EX-L w/DVD System Passenger Van
(No Navigation )MSRP:$33,290 bought at the Goudy Honda on June 13, 2007 (Andrew Nhu )
Pearl silver with Leather Interior.
$28,072 selling price which includes the destination charge.
$2315 Sales Tax (CA Tax of about 8.25%)
$55 Doc Prep Fee
$8.75 CA Tire Fee
$10 CA County Fee
$242 New Veh Lic Fee
The carpet mats which are included
Included extra Honda Original clear Weather Mats ( asked )
$30,702 OTD
Took the 4.9% - 60 months for the $23,000 loan
2007 Honda Odyssey EX-L
Exterior – Silver (silver is in the name)
Interior – Grey
3rd row shades option
We walked out the door for slightly under $29,000.
$26,853.00 EX-L
$599.00 freight
$289.00 processing
$289.00 3rd row shades
$897.00 tax (3.2% - 3% for Virginia state sales, .2% for county)
$45.00 tags
$28,972 TOTAL
FYI – We purchased the 3rd row shades from the dealer because the instructions provided online say something like I would need to remove plastic panels and then punch a hole in sheet metal to attach. Working on an interior of a car isn’t my bag so we paid the dealer for that option. The other options we plan on getting are the cargo tray and the cross bars. We took the online pricing for both the cargo tray (somewhere around $100) and the cross bars (somewhere around $150) with us to the dealer and they couldn’t come close to the aforementioned online pricing.
We also were interested in the 120,000 mile, 8 year extended “HONDA CARE!!!” warranty. Online pricing for this was just over $1,000.00, and the finance guy also wasn’t able to meet the online pricing.
Hope this helps someone.
Another FYI – My process went like this.
1. One month before purchase I emailed all the dealers in and around DC.
2. They each responded with internet pricing
3. I re-emailed the three lowest bidders saying I would be in that night to anyone who could offer best and final pricing.
4. Not a single dealership bit to make any price change my calls days later didn’t produce any reductions.
5. A month later, on the 31st of May I ask the dealer with the best price could do better, they told me NO.
6. A week later I walked in to the dealership with the lowest original internet pricing, drove the car, checked it out for any problems, and then sat down at the table with my sales person. I asked him to give me a couple hundred more off and I would sign the papers. He left our table to talk to the manager and came back with the answer that he couldn’t give me any more off and he wouldn’t honor the original pricing I was offered online.
I immediately got up to leave, nobody stopped me, and so I drove home. About an hour later I called the internet sales manager furious that they wouldn’t honor the original pricing, even thought the quote I got a month before said it had a 3 or 4 day expiration. He asked me to come back and said they would honor the original pricing. I’d imagine if I waited things out a tad more I might have eventually gotten my additional 2 to 3 hundred off.
All in all, we love the van, but I must have spent over $1,000.00 in billable hours to purchase the van so in the long run it would have been better just to get the best price via e-mail and make a purchase.
There was one point that I was a bit shaky on when making the purchase. I feel like I made the right choice but just in case I didn’t someone here might be able to shed light on for others. They suggested purchasing the exterior paint protection and under body protection. Pressing really hard, saying things like “acid rain” and “hail damage” and “not covered by Honda” In the end I opted out, but maybe others would suggest otherwise.
Good luck to all!
Which dealership did you end up buying from?
I just read in last week's Washington Post a letter to "Click and Clack" (the two car-advice brothers who write for the Post), and they were answering a letter from someone asking about the outside & undercoating, and they replied that it was a waste of money.
Hope that makes you feel better!
(you might be able to read the article on washingtonpost.com)
1. Fairfax and Landmark are owned by the same family.
2. Tysons was owned by this family as well and it was the number one dealership in NOVA. It has since been sold to a corporation and they have instituted some % based sales model that does not easily allow them to compete with Fairfax and Landmark.
3. Sheehy gave me fairly good pricing...
3. Bill Page and Browns internet pricing was horrible so they didn't really make the short list.
If I had it all to do over again I would get online, go to the dealership web page that has been mentioned on the forum a number of times. Its somewhere in New Jersey I think. Get a quote from them, send it to the online group of the dealership you want to purchase from (the one that is closest to your house). Tell them you will be in that evening to purchase at that price. Also tell them that you want to be in and out in under 1.5 hours. For some reason these guys are horrible about the speed of their work!
Thanks

Are South Cal purchases usually better than Northern CA?
Also, did you have a trade in?
Probably going to take the $28,800 so I don't have to drive the 5 hours to Chicago with the two kids.
Bottom line; nobody in Cincy will touch the Chicago prices.
I think the rubber all-season mats are the best but It looks very dirty if the dust got stuck inside the lines .
