As for the price increase, read:
http://automobiles.honda.com/info/news/article.asp?ArticleID=2005- 021446413&Category=currenthonda
Honda.com has not posted any details as of 2/16, 1400 PST
Toyota is offering 1.9 until 2/28.
Thanks!
If you think it's fair by all means go for it and don't give it a second thought.
By way of comparison, I paid full MSRP ($26,200) in December 1998 for a '99 Odyssey EX. This new one is a vastly superior product (especially with it's full compliment of safety equipment) plus you get leather and a moonroof all for only another $1800 over the price of 6 years ago.
Sure wish my taxes had only gone up by such a small amount in that interval.

1. Ohio (great experiences in this state seem illimitable)
2. South Carolina (seems like "Greer Honda" has been mentioned several times)
3. Kentucky (where I can personally attest to the point that 500 + invoice [or perhaps better] is realistic, not laughable)
3. Any state provided you stalk the product for a few weeks (months? I'd think it wouldn't take you more than a few weeks--at most--to get 500+ invoice or better).
Good luck!
While it is possible that there could be some regional program, it seems far more likely that any such offer is merely a dealer specific buy-down.
that is a great deal, did you have tradeins as part of the price?
thanks
cross bars
wheel locks
steering wheel cover
back-up sensors
cargo tray / mat
mud flaps
how much do dealers make on these things? I have received quotes for the back-up sensors that range between $735 and over $1000 (installed)
As for the dealer saying they "can't" take them off, it really sounds as though they are merely saying they won't. And it is BS - don't pay for what you don't want
Without knowing where you are, it is hard to judge where you should be on the price of the vehicle but cloth EXs are selling for close to invoice in many areas of the country.
I just accepted a written offer of $35,250, which INCLUDES destination and doc fees (putting the deal at around $692 over invoice). My "drive-out" is $35,250 plus 5% tax, and $29 tag fee. Also, because I agreed to finance through American Honda if they met or beat my financing rate (I have 60 months at 3.9%), they agreed to sell me the 7yr/100K/$0 Honda Care warranty for "cost" ($1050). Finally, to make my kids happy, they agreed to include an extra set of wireless headphones (which are worth $75 at H&A). My build date is only 11 days away (2/28), so I don't have to wait too long, either.
Because I have not yet taken delivery, I don't want to name the dealer yet (I know I have the offer in writing, but just in case...), but I will post it as soon as I can. For those needing to move now, I used the Honda website to request a quote from every dealer within range of my zip code (30062). Most of the dealers inside the metro area were worthless. However, if you are willing to travel outside the metro area (say, by over 100 miles from my zip code...), you'll find a few dealers that compete very aggressively on price.
I will post more information about delivery in about two weeks, but so far, this dealer has been extremely pleasant and professional to work with. My only "complaint" thus far is the inability to take advantage of the special financing because I won't take delivery of the car until after Presidents' Day. Oh well, I'm still pleased with the deal.
Many thanks to those on the forum, and for those Atlanta shoppers, I hope this helps.
the dealer get a "dealer holdback" amount on all vehicles sold. Typically it is around 3% to 4%.
The EX-L invoice price ($27,549) minus the holdback price ($909) is the actual price that the dealer paid for the vehicle = $26,640
later
Sandy, NJ..I love the price you got. Congrats..do you have a salesman name?

Review your vehicle
Past posts have shown Jasper Honda in Alabama to offer in the $500 - $700 over invoice range and I have already talked with the internet manager in order to confirm. He advised me has already delivered about a half dozen Odysseys to the Pensacola area over the past 3 months. It would be nice to have another dealer to barter with though. I'll be watching for your post. Thanks.
Just a quick note about Jasper Honda. Before making my deal yesterday, I had a deposit with Jasper Honda (since 11/04) with a similar deal -$500 over invoice, plus $399 doc fee (which I wound up beating by a few hundred bucks this time around - Jasper Honda wasn't willing to deal on the doc fee, nor were they willing to sell the Honda Care for cost (I think they wanted around $1150, but can't remember).
I was originally supposed to take delivery in January, but my "build date" kept moving, until last week, when they told me it would be late March. They made many excuses and offered apologies (we got the wrong car, the factory erred/had a delay, etc.), all the while claiming that no one else could beat them on price. When they told me I would have to wait until the end of March, I couldn't wait any longer (we sold our other car), and I started over. For some "strange" reason, my current dealer was able to find the vehicle I was looking for in less than 2 weeks (why couldn't Jasper Honda find it?). While the Internet Manager agreed to refund my deposit, I have not seen the refund come through yet, and I will hold my breath a bit until it does.
While I can't prove anything, it's my belief that they used my deposit to bring in vehicles which were sold to others for more profit when they arrived on the lot. They were always very nice on the phone, but would never put anything in writing. My current dealer immediately faxed me production sheets, with model build dates, and specifically referenced dates/reference numbers in the signed, sales work sheets. I'm not saying that Jasper Honda won't necessarily deliver - I'm just saying that I wasted 3 months working with them, and wound up beating their price anyway. Just beware, and make sure that they put everything in writing, including what happens if they are not able to timely deliver.
I will post the name of my current dealer as soon as I can.
I agree of course, too high. I also found out their numbers don't check out - payments coming out $30-$40 higher than they should be based on 59% residual (Touring) or 61% (Ex-L/RES) and mf .00275, and I am adding sales tax. I haven't had a chance to hash this out w/ them yet, but I am a CFA so I also know this stuff inside out.
So is this 3.x% President's day deal only in certain areas - my guy is claiming it doesn't apply to the odyssey (I'm in KY).
Finally, anyone have an opinion on $1000 over invoice for a touring (no res/nav) that's a demo w/ 3k miles? We want the RES, not necessarily the NAV, so are considering putting in an aftermarket DVD (one bonus is you get MP3 capabilities).
A few minutes after closing that deal, I got an email from a dealer about 250 miles away who wanted to beat my deal by $300, but that’s not enough incentive for me to drive up there for a car that may not be there when I arrive. I will have to wait six weeks for the car as dealers around here rarely even have the cars on their lots. It’s on order. I get it by 4/1/05. I am still going to poke around a bit to see if I can beat this deal in the next few weeks.
Someone else asked who "they" were quoting me 3.29% - I'm not sure if it was HF or the dealer who is offering it, the dealer quoted it to me, i.e., I am not sure if they are passing on something offered by Honda Finance or if it is just specific to the dealer - I find it hard to believe it is specific to the dealer as it sounds like some other dealers around the country are offering it.
I've had some decent quotes from Keenan Honda in Doylestown, PA - specifically, $29,987 for EXL-RES with a decent dealer package, i.e., free wheel locks, mud flaps and/or cargo tray, lifetime inspections, $200 off extended service contract (don't know what they are offering it for) and $28,549 for an EXL (no RES or NAV) with no additional destination charge or dealer fees, i.e., no $500 add-on.
Just passing along - I am so ready to have one, but really want to pay invoice or below and that isn't happening right now. I've enjoyed the board so far and am learning quite a bit from it.
