Just made a deal for a slate green/olive. For 32983+399 doc fees + TTL. Pensacola Honda. Delevery Date 3/18. Emailed and called many dealers in the Panhandle area. Was going to buy a siver EXL with R&N in Dothan. IT IS ON THE LOT NOW AT SKINNER HONDA. They wanted 33600 + DOC FEES.
I can only seem to get as low as $28k for the 2005 EX-L. from what I gather though the invoice price in my New Jersey area is about $27.5K, so I think $28 may be fair. Any thoughts??
The reason for the price for the Odyssey Touring R+N is the shortage of them. If you can save a 1000-1500 you got a great deal. Checkout Carrs Honda as they have great inventory and they are dealing.
$28,000 is hardly a bad price for this model (less than $500 over invoice).
If you think it's fair by all means go for it and don't give it a second thought.
By way of comparison, I paid full MSRP ($26,200) in December 1998 for a '99 Odyssey EX. This new one is a vastly superior product (especially with it's full compliment of safety equipment) plus you get leather and a moonroof all for only another $1800 over the price of 6 years ago.
Sure wish my taxes had only gone up by such a small amount in that interval.
Try Showcase...so far great experience w/ them and Tempe Honda. Both were $500 over invoice, doc fees are a little high at showcase and I don't know what they are at Tempe. I suggest getting quotes from other states and then seeing if they will price match, or just offer your price. Showcase guarantees to beat any advertised price (or one in writing such as email) and they are very nice to work with.
I got quotes from every surrounding state and I am thinking that driving more than a few hours isn't worth saving $300 (I have several dealers at $500 over invoice). So, I am working w/ 2 dealers here. One wants $26482 --$500 over invoice + accessories + TTL. The accessories are splash guards, wheel locks, and cross bars. The other wants $26377 +TTL --which includes paint guard, splash guards, and cross bars. The 2nd is $100 cheaper but 200 miles away. However; the 2nd has been amazing to work with, the first dealership is not that great. Is it possible to get a better price than this? I don't want to turn off both of them with too low of a final bid...such as including cargo tray and steering wheel cover. Any thoughts?
Drove home a 2005 Odyssey EX (Beige, Cloth) today from Autowest Honda in Roseville, CA. Paid $400 over invoice. We are going to add Aftermarket DVD Player & Nav system.
I just got a quote for 29,300 including destination in central NJ. That comes up to be about 900 over dealer invoice. Is this good for the region or can i do better?
I have been looking around in Northern NJ and I feel the going rate is $500 (if you can strike a great deal) to $1000 over invoice. I read somewhere that if you can get a car at the carsdirect "real" price you have done well so compare it to that price.
I was actualy wrong on the dealer invoice on that , My quote ends up being $300 over invoice based on cars direct. Cars direct says the true dealer invoice is 28,986. Cars direct wants 31,510, almost 2000 over what my dealer gave me. I am picking up the vehicle tonight.
What's the best state to buy an '05 Odyssey EX-L with leather and DVD around invoice (or at what price)? Minnesota dealers seem to be working together to keep the price at $31,300.
Best states to buy an '05 Odyssey EX-L with DVD around invoice, in my humble opinion, and in my recollection of all posts to date:
1. Ohio (great experiences in this state seem illimitable) 2. South Carolina (seems like "Greer Honda" has been mentioned several times) 3. Kentucky (where I can personally attest to the point that 500 + invoice [or perhaps better] is realistic, not laughable) 3. Any state provided you stalk the product for a few weeks (months? I'd think it wouldn't take you more than a few weeks--at most--to get 500+ invoice or better).
Metro Honda in Jersey City. When I first talked to someone all i did was tell them a price and they said no right of the bat. i said thank youV-much i will talk to someone else. They called me back within 4 hours.
I am down to $27.5K on a 2005 EX-L. This price is right at invoice or even a tad below from what I can figure from my reserach (invoice is 27548). How can this be as there are no incentives or rebates going on now with the Odyssey? Maybe the dealer has gotten some sort of volume discount. If they can go below invoice how much farther can I push it down? Then again I feel like 27.5 is a fair price. What do you think?
Sounds like a great deal to me. I can't explain it either, but maybe the dealer just wants rid of it so he can order a higher-demand RES & NAV model. Be happy with $3200+ off and take the deal before someone else does. Do you have a trade? If so, that changes everything. Maybe the dealer is low-balling you on it.
Go for it,that is excellent for the northeast. The reason that they are willing to go down that low is there is possibly a dealer holdback from Honda. basicly honda is giving dealer specific incentives. Just make sure the quote includes destination charge. Also make sure they have no surprises once you get to the showroom. My dealer tried to add on a $200 etching charge. I told them deal was off as I had not requested the window etching.
No trade in on the deal. I plan to sell my old car myself since it still has manufacturer's warranty on it. If indeed it is a dealer specific incentive then so be it. I am satisfied with this price.
I need to make a final offer and no one has responded to my other post yet. I am curious what the invoice price for some accessories are--I don't see it on Edmunds. I am wondering about:
the dealer told me that the accessories I don't want are there to stay because they're seperate from the service dept. and sales had to pay full price to the service dept.--so they can't discount it any more. I think this is baloney...anyone else?
For accessory pricing, take a look at the sponsor website for H and A Accessories or the one for College Hills Honda.
As for the dealer saying they "can't" take them off, it really sounds as though they are merely saying they won't. And it is BS - don't pay for what you don't want
Without knowing where you are, it is hard to judge where you should be on the price of the vehicle but cloth EXs are selling for close to invoice in many areas of the country.
I just got an e-mail from my (potential) dealer that they are selling the EX-L through Monday at 27548 which is invoice for my area. They must have some discount below invoice, I wonder if I then can get them to go lower than the 27500 I have now...?
For those still searching in the metro Atlanta area (I saw a couple of posts back requesting info), I finally got what I think is a good deal on a Silver/Gray Touring RES/NAV. I've not seen many similar deals recently in the southeast. And, before you ask, there was no trade involved.
I just accepted a written offer of $35,250, which INCLUDES destination and doc fees (putting the deal at around $692 over invoice). My "drive-out" is $35,250 plus 5% tax, and $29 tag fee. Also, because I agreed to finance through American Honda if they met or beat my financing rate (I have 60 months at 3.9%), they agreed to sell me the 7yr/100K/$0 Honda Care warranty for "cost" ($1050). Finally, to make my kids happy, they agreed to include an extra set of wireless headphones (which are worth $75 at H&A). My build date is only 11 days away (2/28), so I don't have to wait too long, either.
Because I have not yet taken delivery, I don't want to name the dealer yet (I know I have the offer in writing, but just in case...), but I will post it as soon as I can. For those needing to move now, I used the Honda website to request a quote from every dealer within range of my zip code (30062). Most of the dealers inside the metro area were worthless. However, if you are willing to travel outside the metro area (say, by over 100 miles from my zip code...), you'll find a few dealers that compete very aggressively on price.
I will post more information about delivery in about two weeks, but so far, this dealer has been extremely pleasant and professional to work with. My only "complaint" thus far is the inability to take advantage of the special financing because I won't take delivery of the car until after Presidents' Day. Oh well, I'm still pleased with the deal.
Many thanks to those on the forum, and for those Atlanta shoppers, I hope this helps.
I paid 27450 in the end. So they made 810 on me, I think I still got a good price. Thanks for the actual dealer price, it will be handy to have when I tell them that I am walking from the the deal unless they cut all the BS motor vehicle add ons.
Can someone tell me a dealer name in NJ/PA are that gave a price quote on EXL - RES? I just need the name of the dealer and the price he quote you or sold it for. I appretiate your help
Sandy, NJ..I love the price you got. Congrats..do you have a salesman name?

Please advise soonest when your deal is complete. You have ordered exactly what I am looking for along with the Honda Care warranty. I live in the Florida Panhandle and all the dealers down here are just too "proud" to offer any serious deals or you get the Touring "Supply and Demand" spiel. Past posts have shown Jasper Honda in Alabama to offer in the $500 - $700 over invoice range and I have already talked with the internet manager in order to confirm. He advised me has already delivered about a half dozen Odysseys to the Pensacola area over the past 3 months. It would be nice to have another dealer to barter with though. I'll be watching for your post. Thanks.
"Past posts have shown Jasper Honda in Alabama to offer in the $500 - $700 over invoice range and I have already talked with the internet manager in order to confirm. He advised me has already delivered about a half dozen Odysseys to the Pensacola area over the past 3 months."
Just a quick note about Jasper Honda. Before making my deal yesterday, I had a deposit with Jasper Honda (since 11/04) with a similar deal -$500 over invoice, plus $399 doc fee (which I wound up beating by a few hundred bucks this time around - Jasper Honda wasn't willing to deal on the doc fee, nor were they willing to sell the Honda Care for cost (I think they wanted around $1150, but can't remember).
I was originally supposed to take delivery in January, but my "build date" kept moving, until last week, when they told me it would be late March. They made many excuses and offered apologies (we got the wrong car, the factory erred/had a delay, etc.), all the while claiming that no one else could beat them on price. When they told me I would have to wait until the end of March, I couldn't wait any longer (we sold our other car), and I started over. For some "strange" reason, my current dealer was able to find the vehicle I was looking for in less than 2 weeks (why couldn't Jasper Honda find it?). While the Internet Manager agreed to refund my deposit, I have not seen the refund come through yet, and I will hold my breath a bit until it does.
While I can't prove anything, it's my belief that they used my deposit to bring in vehicles which were sold to others for more profit when they arrived on the lot. They were always very nice on the phone, but would never put anything in writing. My current dealer immediately faxed me production sheets, with model build dates, and specifically referenced dates/reference numbers in the signed, sales work sheets. I'm not saying that Jasper Honda won't necessarily deliver - I'm just saying that I wasted 3 months working with them, and wound up beating their price anyway. Just beware, and make sure that they put everything in writing, including what happens if they are not able to timely deliver.
I will post the name of my current dealer as soon as I can.
"I was quoted on a lease yesterday and was also quoted close to yours, 6.5%. Too high for me (I am a CPA. "
I agree of course, too high. I also found out their numbers don't check out - payments coming out $30-$40 higher than they should be based on 59% residual (Touring) or 61% (Ex-L/RES) and mf .00275, and I am adding sales tax. I haven't had a chance to hash this out w/ them yet, but I am a CFA so I also know this stuff inside out.
So is this 3.x% President's day deal only in certain areas - my guy is claiming it doesn't apply to the odyssey (I'm in KY).
Finally, anyone have an opinion on $1000 over invoice for a touring (no res/nav) that's a demo w/ 3k miles? We want the RES, not necessarily the NAV, so are considering putting in an aftermarket DVD (one bonus is you get MP3 capabilities).
I got me EX-L at 27450 from Honda of Essex. I think they must have some dealer specific holdback going on this weekend because I also received and e-mail from them that they would take 27549 for EX-L's this weekend, figuring they have to make a profit somehow they must have something going. Paramus Honda would NOT go below $28.
I have been reading the posts in this forum, but haven't seen anything good related to FL. Are there no dealers in this state that are willing to make a reasonable deal? Will I have to travel to Georgia? The best quote I have gotten in the central fl area is only $600 below msrp. When I have made offers of $1000 over invoice, they say they can't even come close to that!! What the ???? This is rediculous considering many people around the country are getting these for $500 over invoice!!!
Just put a $1,000 “non-refundable” (FL state law says it is refundable) down payment on an EX-L NAV/DVD tan odyssey. Just moved to Florida from North Carolina. I should’ve bought before I came. I got quotes from 18 dealers all in a 300-mile radius of Ft. Lauderdale using Edmunds and hondacars.com email quote system. Some quotes were well over MSRP, a few were $1000-$2000 over invoice. I started working on those cheapest, and found that dealers would promise one thing (car in stock at price X) and if I would go down to buy it, the price was no longer valid and the car was not in stock. Bait and switch. I called them on it, they couldn’t care less. I tried to play one off the other, and managed to eke out a price of $32,600 + tag, ttl, tax. That includes the $515 dest fee. So OTD = $34,829.89, that’s about $1,636 over invoice - ouch! Florida market is difficult. Got this deal at Braman Honda in Miami, but they were slimy all the way. Next best quote was at Maroone Honda in Miami for $32,594 + tax, ttl, tag– but I was dealing with a dubious character. Coral Springs Honda quoted me $1,000 over invoice, but no cars in stock.
A few minutes after closing that deal, I got an email from a dealer about 250 miles away who wanted to beat my deal by $300, but that’s not enough incentive for me to drive up there for a car that may not be there when I arrive. I will have to wait six weeks for the car as dealers around here rarely even have the cars on their lots. It’s on order. I get it by 4/1/05. I am still going to poke around a bit to see if I can beat this deal in the next few weeks.
Someone else asked who "they" were quoting me 3.29% - I'm not sure if it was HF or the dealer who is offering it, the dealer quoted it to me, i.e., I am not sure if they are passing on something offered by Honda Finance or if it is just specific to the dealer - I find it hard to believe it is specific to the dealer as it sounds like some other dealers around the country are offering it.
I've had some decent quotes from Keenan Honda in Doylestown, PA - specifically, $29,987 for EXL-RES with a decent dealer package, i.e., free wheel locks, mud flaps and/or cargo tray, lifetime inspections, $200 off extended service contract (don't know what they are offering it for) and $28,549 for an EXL (no RES or NAV) with no additional destination charge or dealer fees, i.e., no $500 add-on.
Just passing along - I am so ready to have one, but really want to pay invoice or below and that isn't happening right now. I've enjoyed the board so far and am learning quite a bit from it.
Good for you - impressive deal on a Touring R&N. Actually, given that your vehicle will come through with the new higher price, you're even closer to invoice than you indicated.
I, too, am looking for a deal on an EX-cloth in central FL. Courtesy Honda (in Daytona area, I think) offered $1500 off MSRP over the phone, but I feel like I can do better..... Please let me know if you find someone who is more willing to deal.

While it is possible that there could be some regional program, it seems far more likely that any such offer is merely a dealer specific buy-down.
that is a great deal, did you have tradeins as part of the price?
thanks
cross bars
wheel locks
steering wheel cover
back-up sensors
cargo tray / mat
mud flaps
how much do dealers make on these things? I have received quotes for the back-up sensors that range between $735 and over $1000 (installed)

the dealer get a "dealer holdback" amount on all vehicles sold. Typically it is around 3% to 4%.
The EX-L invoice price ($27,549) minus the holdback price ($909) is the actual price that the dealer paid for the vehicle = $26,640
later
