1) AIA (The one on TV) said it did "poorly" in offset crash. But head and chest injuries were minimal. Leg injuries were bad.
2) NHTSA (Government head on crash test) says it does the best of any "small truck" (web page can be seen through Edmunds)
3) NHTSA hiway death rate per vehicle puts older model Dakota 1/2 the death rate than any other small truck. Data gathered from real crash data.
Summation? I guess I feel safe. But if I see an accident coming, I'm aiming head on! (as opposed to an offset crash...)

In the TV test (The IIHS (not AIA)) The
Dakota had POOR head injuries, GOOD chest injuries and acceptable leg and foot injuries.
