    My dealer had that catalog when I bought my Silverado. I don't know why they simply don't list it as an option.

    Well, anyway, I am getting the Fold-A-Cover tonneau that is shown in the Silverado brochure. It is a black aluminum hard shell cover that is in four sections and folds up toward the cab or allows you to lift the section behind the cab. It has a lock in front and back. The bonus is you do not have to swap out the standard tailgate protector and it locks the tailgate.

    Why isn't the locking tailgate STANDARD like on the Ford trucks?? That's one of the few minor complaints I have about my Silverado (others- no steering wheel stereo controls on the LT and the auto door locks at 20 mph don't unlock when you put the vehicle in park like they do on many GM cars).

    If anyone has the part # for the locking tailgate handle, please post it since my dealer can't seem to find that catalog, although they've heard of it.

    I took time Friday to visit my Chevroley dealer to get the part number for the locking tailgate handle. Got a different parts saleman who could not find it in the system. He called GM and was told that it was not available yet. He said they thought it would be available in a "few weeks." The previous parts saleman must have gotten confused about what was available. I don't know what he quoted me a price for. Sorry for the bad information earlier.

    Hey you guys do it the easy way. I just got a PE rolltop and put a $3.86 latch on the inside of the tailgate. You can buy one in any hardware store, cheap and effective.

    I have a '99 Dodge Dakota on order. I've been doing some shopping around for a bed cover. Currently I'm living in NW FL. Dealers around here are quoting $700 for the PE, installed, and $845 for the Roll and Lock. I also saw that Roll and Lock has a new cover that uses a lighter aluminium and is vinal covered. I was quoted $745 for that one, installed. I'm looking for opinions from folks who have both. How's vibration noise and maintenance on both? Thanks.

    Just had a PE installed on my fullsize Chevy for $650.00 in the North East. Sounds like you are a bit overpaying. I heard some people had it installed for $600.00. Little vibration but it is accepted, the rails are adjustable.

    I've had the paceedwards on my 97 Chev for two years and it works great. Only problems so far is when I tow the 5th wheel and the cover is locked just ahead of the hitch it does bounce some in the wind. I reinforced the lid and poke a rag in the crack to stop vibration when towing. I use a lock on the tail gate. I installed a screw in door lock meant for a patio door on the tail gate and when I have golf clubs etc in bed I screw in the lock prior to locking the cover and all is secure. PE markets a electric tail gate lock but my solution only cost about $4.

    Havn't been to this spot for a while because I cancelled my 99 silverado and am waiting to see what Chevy and Dodge do for 2000. But I have a Roll-N-Lock cover on my 97 Z71. I've had it for over 2 years and it works great. Rollnlock provides a cover for the stake holes. It is a heavy tape cut larger than the stake hole. It is still holding well and keeping out the water. The Rollnlock side rails partially cover the stake holes so what ever you use must be thin. does the pace edwards side rails give room to put a plug in? Anyhow the stiff tape maybe available at a hardware store and could be cut to fit. If availible it should be cheaper that regular stake hole plugs. ..... Rich

    FYI: I was able to loosen the "tub" enought to slide a pocket cover into the front stake holes and then re-fasten the screws.
