Sorry that the GM truck owners can't be "funner" than we are. Toyota trucks ARE good playtoys. Not much good for what a truck is used for though.

    Numbers taken from Edmunds

    Chevy S-10
    Maximum Payload: 900 lbs.
    Maximum Towing Capacity: 3500 lbs
    Maximum Cargo Capacity: 39 cu.ft
    Ground Clearance: 7.5 in

    Toyota Tacoma
    Maximum Payload: 1674 lbs.
    Maximum Towing Capacity: 5000 lbs
    Maximum Cargo Capacity: 44 cu.ft
    Ground Clearance: 10.8 in.

What is YOUR truck used for? Obviously not driving over objects in the road while carrying or towing any kind of a load. Your truck is a joke and I never knew just how much of one untill I took a look at the numbers. They speak for themselves and if you take a look you will notice that the s-10's safety ratings are even worse then the Tacomas. No wonder there is a better debate going on in the Ranger discussion. Just what the rest of that 4.3 eng. doing if it isn't towing or hauling well?

I don't place much stock in what magazines have to say.I have a 91 S-10 4x4 extended cab.I read a in consumer reports that the S-10 was rated very low.(after I had mine for some time)I can only speak from experience.my S-10 has 136k on it,from the time I purchased it,It never had to be taken back for repairs under warranty. And no serious problems since. All repairs were normal as it aged.A/C recharged at 100k & ball joints.I couldn't be happier with the S-10.I am considering buying a new ZR-2.I'll let my experience speak the loudest for me instead of someone elses opinion(magazines).

I have visited many different topic listed in the pickup section and have found many of them to be enlightening as well as informative; and to those that have answered my questions in the past I say thankyou!:) ; and some have been filled with much humor. Hovever it saddens me to see that as adults not everyone has learned to keep such behavior off of the net'. As I have stated before, many people like myself come to this website to be informed and advised when considering all aspects of such an important purchase as that of a new car/truck. Please keep being informative and educational when people like myself post questions or comments on these various topics. Please leave the foul language, my vehicle is superior to yours insults on some other website. Thanks to all of you for your information and advice.
    Still,

Please don't take this as being rude, it is not intended to be so. I was considering the Ranger and the S -10 (maybe even the ZR-2). I liked the ride of the S-10, but due to financial concerns of going back to college, I will choose the Ranger 4 cyl. Sport it is more in my affordability range. After all, right now I can drive a no frills truck if it means that I will get my education. The full size truck or SUV with all the frills can wait until it's the responsible time to buy one. Why did I post my comments on this one, also because I enjoy reading the funny camments that others have made in the past on this topic (with the exception of those that should make their unsuitable comments on some other forum). Take no offense for the most part the posts have been informative as well as funny. Growing up the only girl with four older brothers you either get bored out of your mind listening to discussions on sports, hunting and trucks or you join in and have fun. I chose to have fun and get my hands dirty!:) And even if I do purchase a Ranger I'll still come back to these topics because I enjoy them. As I said, no offense folks.
Have a great day in those great trucks.
