are in a race to look alike when the look has been around for a long time with the mack truck hehe. thanks EL
2wd ext cab 1500 series in Oct.,I asked the dealer if he had seen the Edmunds bulletin board on vibration problems. He wasn't familiar with it but he did say that the only problems with the new trucks was that some had been damaged in shipment. My understanding from him was that the tie downs in some cases had been incorrectly attached to the frame. He did not comment on what was done with these damaged trucks...
My truck is a pleasure to drive. I have no complaints at 2500 miles....
Bob331: Some folks are having good luck with their dealers, some are not. Some seen to be honest, some are not. I've heard everything from about five different dealers. Then another version when I filed with BBB. Who knows?
tsw4u: When I first starting posting, etc. it seemed to be more 2wd ext. cab models than the 4x4s and reg. cabs. However, I believe it has picked up with the reg. cabs and 4x4s. Seems like every model is having some type of vibration problem. You'll need to read back to be sure.

By the way, did you notice what happened to Posts 491-493? I guess Edmunds must be editting the posts? Does this happen regularly? I think 491 was a Chevy basher (his name was badass dodge) using some mild profanity (not really that bad), and I responded to him. Anyway, I don't care that they deleted mine since they deleted his post too, as mine was just a reply to him.
Thanks,
Ken
One interesting note on the towing vibration: it still vibrates a little with light trailers, but not at all with heavy tongue wgt trailers. The trailer I use now feels fine so I'm happy.
alt4: getting a smooth ride on the test drive doesn't mean that truck is going to be okay. Some folks are saying they're getting problem well into ownership. Read back, if you haven't done so, because I'm not sure. Good luck...

So that makes 9 weeks so far.

The dealer SHOULD be able to show you this on the VOMS order system computer at the dealership. This is what they did for me when I placed my order, I physically watched them type it into the GM ordering computer. It rejected my initial order which was for 2500 base model ext. cab w/10 options. The base truck was on restraint from factory so I went up to LS model & order was accepted while I watched & order # issued, while I really did not want the LS it was that or nothing! Go to Topic 555 post 442 for what I ended up with.
Hope this helps it was my long winded version (I do it for therapy while waiting)

I plan to live vicariously through you once yours comes in, and I'm waiting for my delivery!
I spoke with a retired GM Repair person. (At the end of each production line there are repairmen,
and he was one for 37+ years, just retired in october.)
Anyway, between the cv joint and the gear housing, there is a point where the drive shaft bolts
together. There are 6 bolts there. The head of the bolts are on the tire side of the plate. Make sure
they are all tight. Tht's all. (mine were tight, but hey, it was worth a try.) Evidently he had seen a few
trucks that weren't tightened all of the way down.
Good Luck!
Tim

Post #514 above politely states how I feel about that subject!!
I now have 2500 miles on my replacement GY's and things are fine. No vibration!!
I think there are several different vibrations we are discussing here and very likely several different fixes.
To the fellow asking about michelin LTS M/S's...I have them on my wife's 99 Blazer LT and they totally transformed that vehicle into a better ride all around. The Uniroyal Laredo's came off at 10K since they had no wet weather performance at all. If the LTX's do for the Silverado what they did to our Blazer you will be pleased. I plan on putting them on my 2K Silverado when necessary....although I'm not sure they meet the "spec"??? I will go to 255 X 70 X 16 to replace my 235's. They have the same height.

Because of the series difference in the tires you are comparing 70's vs. 75's, the 245/75 are about 1/2" shorter than the 275 while the 265/75 are about 1/2" taller. As far as difference in width, the 275 is about an inch wider that the 245 and less that 1/2" wider than 265. Hope this helps. Good luck. If you go to the following link, they discuss how to compare the different tire sizes:

VIBRATIONS: Don't have any yet hope not to but then I need that damn truck to know for sure. Should be in by end of month I was told, another lie??? 2500 ext. cab 2WD supposedly are not experiencing these problems from all the past posts I've seen.
ROTORS?? I don't think so, you would feel it as soon as you touched the brakes if they are the least bit out.
