    Ryan:

Who did you order your mudflaps from? You said it would take 3 months. Is it the Husky Liners for trucks with flares? Just curious, as I'm thinking of getting a set for my truck. Flares aren't providin enough protection for my 285's on 8" rims.

I just got a catalog from a company advertising Bushwacker Bedrail Caps. They are plastic
DuraFlex they call it, with a diamond plate textured surface, and are available with or without stake holes. They show them black on a new GMC, and silver on a Tundra. They either come in two colors or they are paintable. Just a suggestion. www.bushwacker.com

MSU all the way!!! Although I'm biased. I live in Michigan.

The Orangemen..........Syracuse. But I don't follow basketball just HOCKEY! Unfortunately my team (Rangers) will be lucky if they make the playoffs, go figure the highest payroll (53 mil) in NHL & they can't get their s**t together.

Time to go home a take my truck for a ride & listen to the sound of that 5.3 comin out thru that Borla tailpipe sound system.........oh that sweeeeeeet sound.

I'm starting to get that babble disease. LOL

Bushwacker website doesn't list anything about bedcaps. Must be too new of a product. Sorry for the inconvenience. I emailed them for info. I'll post what I find out.

When I first purchased my truck, I crawled under and verified my transfer case already had the blue fluid. The delay occurred for the first time on Monday and has not happened since. I called my dealer and they didn't have any idea what could cause it. It appears others on this board have experienced the same delay although it seems to be very intermittant. I'll keep you posted.

My vote goes to theLUND bugguard (sorryKyle). It looks good, no noise, and no reflection. $60 at Super Trak. I also put on a set of the Chevrolet molded mudguards from the dealer. $50 for the 4 of 'em. I have a Gibson split rear exit catback exhaust on the way. Ordered from TruckPerformance.com.

Has anyone put on any kind of side window vent visor? I'm looking at the LUND Eclipse and the Ventshade. Leaning toward the Ventshade right now. I'll only put them on the driver and passenger doors. I don't like them on the quarter windows.

    Update:
The dealer replaced the "intermediate steering shaft" yesterday with no change in symptom. They now have an upper bearing and spring on order. Looks like my Chrsler mech. buddy may be correct after all. Maybe I won't tell him 8-). I report back next week.

When I first bought my truck, it had a whine that started at approx 45 mph which would subside the moment I took my foot off the accellerator. The dealer replaced the ring and pinion, bearing and bushings as well. Noise gone! I have the 4.10 rear end as well. Hope this helps.

I can't believe it is taking so long for you to get your build date. I ordered mine on 28 Feb and
have a build date of 3 April 2000.

I would ask the dealership why it is taking so long. Have you called the GM help desk to see if
they ever recieved the order, they can give you
    the build date also.

    Good Luck!

ordered my hitch plug from them. Go Badgers!! Final four? I like Cincinnati, but time will tell...
  • rayt2rayt2 Member Posts: 1,208
I went with the Lund Interceptor, easy install 5 minutes no drilling & guaranteed for life you own truck. I put the Ventshade Ventvisors on just the driver/passenger doors, had good experience with them on my last truck & they look good. I also don't care for them on the ext. cab rear windows, they have very little function there when you look at it, the windows swing out not roll down so water can still get in and they look hidious & take away from the good look of the truck.

    2K 2500 LT 4:10's

Just last week it started a whine like noise at about 75 MOH and up....but sometimes it's not there?
Don't know if it started at about 11K miles?...or it has been there all along and the radio masked it?

    Any others like this?

It sounds like a 4.56 rear end in a 70 Chevelle with no Overdrive.....(kinda)

Anyone know where I can get a diagram on the lube points on a 99 silverado 4x4 (the ones the owners manual tells you to lube regularly). I am relatively new to vehicle maintenance, and want to do it right.

    Thanks,

I went with the WeatherTech ventvisors. No tape, no drilling, 30 second installation. I can pull them out just as fast.

The snap into the window channel. I really like them. German made, high quality, excellent fit.

Well, I ordered my truck on 3/8. Got home from work today and had a message from my dealer saying that they accepted my order today, and I have a TPW of 4/17!! The week of my birthday!! What could be better? Couple of weeks for delivery, so I should be able to pick it up the 1st week of May!! Keeping my fingers crossed!!

I picked up my truck on thursday.
It is great! The Z71 suspension is a little stiff,
but the handling is great. When you buy a truck,
it should drive like one. I don't chip my teeth when I hit the potholes anymore.
I haven't figured out most of the stuff yet.
It may have to wait a week cause I'm goin to Las Vegas. Even my truck take a back seat to that!
It's a dream machine so far and I'll let you know more when I get back!

rate A+. Can't believe how easy install was. Every Silverado owner should have one. Was my first mod in August '99 on '00 Silverado.

Test drove '00 Tahoe at my chevy dealer yesterday. Boy, the salesman was trying his hardest to sell me the Tahoe but couldn't overcome my objections about his "awesome - couldn't verify service department". It's a pretty nice riding truck or SUV...but drove up the street and saw a Denali sitting on GMC dealer lot. Had to test drive. No comparison...Denali wins hands down. Picking it up today...just gotta figure how to fit the Denali and Silverado in the garage at the same time. Even though the Denali costs more, if it's one or the other...the Silverado will be parked in the garage.

the correct topic for post #405 is....
99-00 SILVERADO - ORDER TO DELIVERY - II (Topic #1686). This is a place for all the Silverado wannabes...oops...soon to be. LOL
  • storchstorch Member Posts: 72
You saying that since I haven't taken delivery of my Silverado yet that I can't post here? Does that mean that I have nothing valuable to add to these oh-so-otherwise stimulating conversations? Especially the one regarding receiver covers? Speaking of which, my dream receiver "cover" is drawbar with a 2" ball pulling my 2000 Malibu Skiboat!!! Now that is something worth talking about!

How long you been here anyways?

In a previous post someone mentioned the receipt the dealer receives when an order is accepted by GM. What is that receipt called? I have been unable to locate that previous post.

Also, does anyone have a recommendation on gun racks for the Silverado?

    Thanks.

Thanks to all who posted about the hitch receivers. The exact one I'm looking for on the RSTRUCK site (thanks Dropper). Will get it ordered this weekend. I've spent many hours searching the web, but their site never once popped up in a search, they need to fix that.

Ryan - I really like the one with the new Z71 logo and to rub it in for my brother - I'd love the "Remove to tow Ford". But after all, at $40 a pop that would start to add up and so many other things I want to do to it as well.

Thanks for the info. Even if this post is off topic!!

hit the refresh button and did a double post.

    Kevin-
If you read my message and taken the context...I never said that you could not post...even about your hitches...I stated that the correct topic for post #405 is Topic 1686..99-00 Silverado - Order To Delivery - II. The purpose of posting in the correct topic is to share thoughts, experiences, or in this case wantings with others who share the same. Or to put it another way this may or may not be a boring topic or how do you say "Does that mean that I have nothing valuable to add to these oh-so-otherwise stimulating conversations?"...but for me...I got my truck...so...and this is speaking only for myself...when and if you get yours really is boring. I guess you'll understand once you get yours and listen to others talking about getting theirs. BTW I've been here ever since I got my '99 Silverado in July '99 and '00 Silverado in August '99. Mostly posting only when I could help to provide solutions to anyone's problem or to find info on warranty issues. I'm not sure of the relevance of this question, but how long have you been around here? ;)
  • obyoneobyone Member Posts: 7,841
I just picked up my '00 Yukon Denali, wanted to wait till '01 model came out but couldn't since lease on Regal GS is expiring. So...stuck with the 5.7 wishing was a 5.3. Gee....am I posting in the right topic? Opinions....Kevin??

Lastly, since it's based on older platform...there are no vibrations...even with the chrome rims.
  • storchstorch Member Posts: 72
I don't own one YET!! That is just my dream boat. You have your opinion and I have mine. I'm just out of college and am only starting to collect my toys. Will probably have to start out with a used Mastercraft since there are so many more of those around.

    Kevin
  • storchstorch Member Posts: 72
No offense, but I was just kidding with you!! I never once said I minded the boring topics, there is valuable information to be had from them as well. If you want to get real technical on this subject, maybe you should look at the title of our topic again "Chevy Silverado". Don't see OWNER in there anywhere. So, I take it to mean GENERAL Sivlerado info. I consider possible Order-to-Delivery times to be just such info!! Maybe you should start an Owner's page if you don't want to hear about these other topics!! That is the last I will say.

Saw a new Denali at work. I'd tell ya about it, but then I'd lose my job!! (Don't ya just hate that?) :)

I called gm cust. service and got a tenative build date of 3/20. i meant to call them friday t check on it again but got too busy to call. mondays and fridays are the days to call. anyway, i was also going to go to the dealer but they call the same # i have to check so what's the point. i think the delay is with the 2500's. seems like the 1500's are coming in quicker. I ordered a 2500 Ext. cab, LT with everything but engine heater and Locking Differencial. So it may be that there is a back order on any one of the extras or part of the the extras. Also, i bought a 3 door and ended up with a 4 door. which i wanted anyway but wasn't even an option when i bought it in December. As long as it comes before my 87' f150 s**ts the bed, i don't care. At least i won't be getting any road salt on it for awhile. altho it was 72 deg. thursday and we got snow on friday! Good luck on your order and be patient.
  • ryanbabryanbab Member Posts: 7,240
I was watching PURDUE OH YEA BABY ok enough of that well a silverado commercial came on a 2500 it was pulling a stuck truck out of the snow haha guess what kind??? FORD hahahaha then the ford guy (tow truck) said " i need to get me one of those" it was great. Just thought id share. I guess he removed to tow ford

    Ryan

Im not bashing dont get upset ford owners
  • paynerpayner Member Posts: 31
Just stopped by my dealer and there it sat *S*
1500,Ext. Cab. 4X4 LS Loaded, ordered it 2/8 and it just got here today.
I just have one question, has anyone tryed raising the front end by tighting down the torsion bars? Seems like the set a little low up there.
  • swobigswobig Member Posts: 634
guess I should get the other hitch cover (remove to tow Ford)...nah...The Wisconsin Badger one will do just fine as they kicked the #$%# out of Arizona.

Back to the topic though. Does anyone know why GM can't figure out these door locks? Have owned Ford's and currently have a Dodge Intrepid and if the doors are locked you can still open the door (from the inside) without unlocking the door. Doesn't seem like it should be that hard for them to figure out. It sucks if you leave your truck running and try to get out..damn near bang my head every time! Oh well, guess I'll have to turn them off, which unfortunatly means reading the owners manual...yuk...
  • ryanbabryanbab Member Posts: 7,240
ARIZONA luckily i didnt have them in the final 4.

    PURDUE WON TOO!!!!!!!!!

No offense taken...didn't see your original post just the one that Ryan was referring to. Actually was kidding with Ryan and just so happen to include your name in the post...

Denali??? losing your job??? Hmm... another puzzle. Saturday night so...I think I'll have a couple of Bud Lights and ponder...

Swobig..I've pulled the handle and leaned on the door so many times I've lost count. Really felt stupid you'd figure I would have learned that it just doesn't work that way by now.
  • storchstorch Member Posts: 72
Don't want you to waste a good night worrying about it instead of drinking, so I'll give you a few clues. By new I meant newer than a '00, and I work for the General. Figured it out yet? ;)

    Kevin
  • storchstorch Member Posts: 72
Do you have a 2000? If so, you can program to unlock when you put it in park. Should resolve the problem. But, you probably own a '99 and already know that this possible for the '00, but not the '99. Just figured I make sure others out there know as well.

Tell me you saw something resembling a 2001 Denali in the new body style. You will make my day. I currently have a 2000 Yukon SLT on order, but would gladly give it up if I knew a new Denali would be out by the end of the year. Email me at jlischyn@pressenter.com if you want to keep it private.

Sorry guys, I know this is the wrong topic, but I've been looking for this info everywhere.
  • chevy4mechevy4me Member Posts: 203
My 99 has done this about 9 times in a year. It feels like the truck is trying to start off in second gear (sluggish) then it kicks into first and goes normal. My dealer looked at this and "could not duplicate" and the computer showed no trouble codes.
Powerisfun: I also kept a copy of the 99 torque specs from the gmpowertrain site and I see what you mean .
  • vince4vince4 Member Posts: 1,268
Tell me more about those visors you ordered. I assume you are replacing the Silverado ones because they don't block the side windows, correct? So the new ones must have a pull-out extension? They can't be longer or they would hit the center overhead console.

It's great that you will have pictures for us, thanks. I may want to do the same job on mine. How much were the new visors? I assume you ordered them at the dealer.
  • vince4vince4 Member Posts: 1,268
I never noticed the braking issue in tow/haul mode. I've driven about 1K in t/h and if it happened, it wasn't dramatic enough for me to notice it. So the symptom only shows up in 3rd or less? That means put the lever in "3" and let off the gas and it should happen? Let me know and I'll give it a try.
  • obyoneobyone Member Posts: 7,841
Just picked up my '00 Denali last night. Time ran out on my lease and didn't want to extend on month to month. I also looked at '00 Tahoe which has been upgraded to new platform along with '00 Yukon. Tahoe looks too much like Silverado and I don't really want another one...ditto for Yukon. And when really thinking about it...when I test drove Tahoe...there was a vibration at 55-65...same as my Silverado. That's all I need is two vehicles into service dept for same problem.

The way I figured...the wife will be driving the Denali anyway and she doesn't seem to mind that a newly designed one is around the corner. Also its on a 3 year lease so...can always get another one in three years. Hopefully the vibration problems will be resolved by GM by that time. BTW what do you do for the General? Such a large company...do the employees feel like they are insignificant? or has GM moved towards a Theory Z type of program in which they help employees to have a career with the company with life time goals, job security, etc?
  • kantonkanton Member Posts: 142
let me get this straight; you have two silverados a 99 and 00 as well as a 00 denali? must be nice!! I hope you enjoy them all!!
    Kyle
  • swobigswobig Member Posts: 634
didn't know you could program them to unlock when you put it in park (BTW, I have a 00' model). Guess this bump on my head will start going down now!

Bluebeast, curious to hear if those visors work for you. Looked at a new model Tahoe, but didn't think those visors would work cause they fasten at both ends and the Silverado only has the one end holding it on. Maybe the Suburbans are different? Let us know...
  • kantonkanton Member Posts: 142
I know this question was asked before, but I don't remember the answer. With autotrac on an LT is the 4wd indicator light on the dash supposed to illuminate? only the indicator on the autotrac push buttons illuminates on my truck. the reason I ask this is because I was looking at the 00 brochure today and it shows an LT dash with autotrac and the 4wd indicator light illuminated. if it is supposed to come on i will have the dealer fix it. thanks
