I used to put premium in the truck, because it's getting old and carboned up, and the valves would clatter if I ran 87 in it. But, I found that as long as I don't let the tank get too empty, I can alternate between 87 and 93, with the mixture ending up being around 89-90, and it seems to run fine.
I guess I could just put 89 in it, but that's priced closer to 93 than 87, so doing it this way saves a little money. Or, at least tricks me into thinking I do. :shades:
Last fill up was 4.079 on on 4/29.
Yesterday, filled up the new Explorer with RUG for 3.999(cash or credit).
Previous fill up was 4.039 on 2/27.
I think the high for the year was around 4.299.
I don't know how much gas is here - the electronic sign at my usual station is burned out. Price must have fallen so fast it blew a fuse.
Not bad mileage earlier today:
Today it was $3.81, an eighteen cent drop.
The nasty stuff did finally manage to kill the gaskets on my one lawnmower though. :sick:
with real gas, mileage goes from 35 up to 40MPG...
Ours went down another two cents to $3.77. Naturally we aren't driving anywhere for the holiday, but I may just go fill up the Subaru for the summer.
I could get it down to $3.57 if I could find 4 nickel off grocery coupons. But I don't have that many left - gave my mother-in-law some a week ago. Don't need $200 worth of ribs for the weekend either; you get a penny off for every $10 spent.
Was out of town today and filled up for $3.57. Diesel out of town was still high at $3.77.
The first price I see when I get off the train as $3.43! Last I was out it was half a buck more than that.
Down here it is at $3.51 at a variety of stations.
A friend of mine is heading back to Anchorage for the summer season and even he's not complaining about gas prices and he's on the Canadian leg right now.
Shell dropped RUG from $4.29 to $4.17
Diesel went from $4.19 down below $4 to $3.99
I'll be in Floriduh in about a week, it'll be a lot cheaper there.
Places without refineries pay less than here. There's some profit padding going on here. Maybe the shoppers from Canuckistan coming south are part of it, they will pay these prices and still smile as they pay much more taxes, so it still works.
That Shell station by the train was down to $3.39.
Two days before, they were selling it at $3.079.
That's the least I have paid since January 2012.
It's sad when gas over $3/gallon *STILL* seems cheap !!
RUG = $3.49
Plus = $3.69
Ultra= $3.75
Diesel is running $3.79 across town. Premium at one station is still well over $4. Guess they are trying to gouge the tourists.
Oddly, when I put in the zip for here down on West 32nd Street the gas stations that gasbuddy quotes are are all up in Harlem and north. Not exactly close and I know there are ones closer. Not that I have a car up here....

Last week's fill-up was for $3.54, while most stations on my route were $3.80 on average.
Then last Friday afternoon every station on my route (except my regular spot) jumped to $3.99 ~ $4.10 range and stayed there until Wednesday evening, dipping 5 cents on average. The one Shell that was $4.10 last Friday jumped to $4.20 on Tuesday but is now back down to $4.10.
RUG = $3.35
Plus = $3.51
Ultra = $3.61
