    Filled yesterday at Costco. $4.03

But the lowest right now is running at $3.79 for 87 here in Happy Valley

slight drop at the local Crown station. I just filled up my '85 Silverado during lunch, and 93 was down to $4.099/gal. Last time I put 87 in was 4/18/12, and it had been $4.299. I also filled up on 5/1/12, but put 87 in that time, for $3.899/gal.

I used to put premium in the truck, because it's getting old and carboned up, and the valves would clatter if I ran 87 in it. But, I found that as long as I don't let the tank get too empty, I can alternate between 87 and 93, with the mixture ending up being around 89-90, and it seems to run fine.

I guess I could just put 89 in it, but that's priced closer to 93 than 87, so doing it this way saves a little money. Or, at least tricks me into thinking I do. :shades:

Today, filled up the old Explorer with RUG for 3.999 credit(cash price 3.919).
Last fill up was 4.079 on on 4/29.
Yesterday, filled up the new Explorer with RUG for 3.999(cash or credit).
Previous fill up was 4.039 on 2/27.
I think the high for the year was around 4.299.

to Newt Gingrich and President Obama for asserting themselves about oil speculators. Prices have fallen ~8%~ in the past few weeks around here in W. Ga. I'm glad we have had 2 Hybrids in the garage during the first four months of 2012.

Heh, don't think the fact that crude supplies rose to a 22-year high may be a factor too?

I don't know how much gas is here - the electronic sign at my usual station is burned out. Price must have fallen so fast it blew a fuse. :)

Took a little road trip to SW WA this morning, into the less developed world...average price is just over $4 for regular.

    Not bad mileage earlier today:

$4.03 is the cheapest RUG I have seen. Most stations around me are still at $4.29
  • steverstever Guest Posts: 52,454
And I was surprised. Last I looked (10? days ago?), gas was $3.99.

Today it was $3.81, an eighteen cent drop.
  • PF_FlyerPF_Flyer Member Posts: 9,372
We're sitting at $3.69 in most places, although there is a rogue Sunoco sitting at $3.93 for some odd reason. Even odder, you see people at the pumps there. Sort of makes you wonder what ELSE is going on there

Heh, got some money laundering going on in Happy Valley? :D
  • gagricegagrice Member Posts: 31,450
Both our Shell and Mobil stations kicked up to $4.39 this last week. They got as low as $4.29. I got 3 gallons of diesel for my Kubota, $4.69 per. Premium was $4.55 and midgrade $4.49. Premium seems to be the best bargain these days.
  • explorerx4explorerx4 Member Posts: 20,723
Got gas in CT for 3.999, PA 3.659, and IN 3.859(managed to pass by the first few stations that were 4.199).

and needed petrol for the truck. $3.70 for 87 octane at usual place. Funny, after driving the hybrid over there and come back here the truck felt to have a lot more power :shades: - but then after a couple days power level returned to normal.
  • PF_FlyerPF_Flyer Member Posts: 9,372
Prices leaking down to $3.63 here... and as an added bonus, ethanol has disappeared from a couple of stations and my mixed driving MPG has jumped from 30-31 up to 33-34.

The nasty stuff did finally manage to kill the gaskets on my one lawnmower though.
  • slorenzenslorenzen Member Posts: 694
4.19 for RUG, special blend, ya know...10% ethanol.

with real gas, mileage goes from 35 up to 40MPG...

Regular is down to $3.79 here. Not driving for the holiday, but it's unusual to see the pump price fall on the start of summer driving season.
  • fezofezo Member Posts: 10,386
Now of course I haven't bought any gas for over two months (as has been noted earlier) but when my wife went down to the Social Security office to try and straighten a few things out (they were closed due to a water leak; she's still steaming) I told her if she needed gas there was a cheap Sunoco just up the road. She took me up on that and reported $3.51 for regular.

    Cheap. :)

Ours went down another two cents to $3.77. Naturally we aren't driving anywhere for the holiday, but I may just go fill up the Subaru for the summer.

I could get it down to $3.57 if I could find 4 nickel off grocery coupons. But I don't have that many left - gave my mother-in-law some a week ago. Don't need $200 worth of ribs for the weekend either; you get a penny off for every $10 spent.

Now at $3.75 for rug; $3.79 for diesel. Glad I waited on the Subie.

Was out of town today and filled up for $3.57. Diesel out of town was still high at $3.77.

I'm home for three days and then hav eto go back until second week of July.

The first price I see when I get off the train as $3.43! Last I was out it was half a buck more than that.

Down here it is at $3.51 at a variety of stations.

Cool, you get a vacation away from "home".

A friend of mine is heading back to Anchorage for the summer season and even he's not complaining about gas prices and he's on the Canadian leg right now.
  • gagricegagrice Member Posts: 31,450
Costco has held at $4.05 all week.
Shell dropped RUG from $4.29 to $4.17
Diesel went from $4.19 down below $4 to $3.99

I heard on TV this afternoon that local gas prices around Seattle are up like 6 cents in the past week. I wonder what's really behind this gouge.

I'll be in Floriduh in about a week, it'll be a lot cheaper there.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,414
WA state prices highest in the lower 48 - no doubt from supply and demand, free market forces, et al.
  • PF_FlyerPF_Flyer Member Posts: 9,372
Just for a change of pace, I happen to have been listening to morning radio online from Seattle for the last couple of weeks (I like their classic rock choices) and their reporting about why their prices at the pump are nuts seem to center on a fire at a refinery. The WA prices so seem WAY out of line with reality.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,414
    edited June 2012
That refinery is now back on line, no price changes seen - but we know how that works - prices shoot up at the rumor of a crisis, and take ages to slowly fall when everything is back on line. As well, most media reports will always excuse prices, I have also heard the "summer blend" line - so changing formulas creates that much of an increase? I call BS. With prices like these, one would expect a shortage somewhere. But that's never proven.

Places without refineries pay less than here. There's some profit padding going on here. Maybe the shoppers from Canuckistan coming south are part of it, they will pay these prices and still smile as they pay much more taxes, so it still works.

Back from my three days+ back home. Filled the car Thursday night at $3.53. By Friday morning it was 2 cents cheaper.

That Shell station by the train was down to $3.39.

I paid $4.55 for premium today. Will be in FL by the end of the week, gas prices will be just part of the culture shock :shades:

Most places are down to $3.49 now, and at one they have "rush hour discounts" of 5 cents off. Since they added gas pumps at our grocery store, we get the discount there as well when we buy groceries. Next time we fill up there we'll be getting 50 cents off per gallon (one vehicle up to 30 gallons)

I paid $3.189 at Buc-ee's, the World's Largest Convenience Store, in New Braunfels, TX last weekend.

Two days before, they were selling it at $3.079.

That's the least I have paid since January 2012.

It's sad when gas over $3/gallon *STILL* seems cheap !!
  • gagricegagrice Member Posts: 31,450
Last time I bought gas for $3.05 was November 2010. The lowest we have hit in the last year is $3.60. We are at $4.05 as of last Friday, which is exactly the same as I paid one year ago to the day. We have diesel as low as $3.80 now. I should have bought that Mercedes ML350 Bluetec.

    RUG = $3.49

Decided to fill up the Outback today - gas is down ~.04 cents to $3.69. and I had some grocery coupons so that knocked another twenty cents off a gallon.

Diesel is running $3.79 across town. Premium at one station is still well over $4. Guess they are trying to gouge the tourists.
  • fezofezo Member Posts: 10,386
Checked for the difference between home and NYC where I'm currently stuck - about 30 cents a gallon! About a dime more per gallon than the UP!

Oddly, when I put in the zip for here down on West 32nd Street the gas stations that gasbuddy quotes are are all up in Harlem and north. Not exactly close and I know there are ones closer. Not that I have a car up here....

was for $3.70 for 87 octane at the usual place in Oswego.

Last week's fill-up was for $3.54, while most stations on my route were $3.80 on average.

Then last Friday afternoon every station on my route (except my regular spot) jumped to $3.99 ~ $4.10 range and stayed there until Wednesday evening, dipping 5 cents on average. The one Shell that was $4.10 last Friday jumped to $4.20 on Tuesday but is now back down to $4.10.
