I know its not as quick as some foreign sports cars with smaller displacements, but I would still love the good ole' American made Corvette over any foreign sports car. C5 Vette with 6 speed tranny.....gotta love that one.

Speaking of motorcycles, What do you think of the Yamaha Seca 2?
  • quadrunner500quadrunner500 Member Posts: 2,721
Runs lean, needs a long time to warm up, like lots of medium displacement Japanese multis. Comfortable riding position, good universal motorcycle, insurable, not too much expensive plastic. Won't get you any respect among crotch rocket pilots, but who cares?
  • RoclesRocles Member Posts: 982
Gee, Quad, Thanks for stealing my thunder! ;)er...as quad said and it is not my cup of tea. It's a good motorcycle that tends to be bland around the edges. The lean part can easily be remedied by some needle shims.
  • cottrell1cottrell1 Member Posts: 39
    What are needle shims?
  • cottrell1cottrell1 Member Posts: 39
If you want an American Sports Car, Get a Viper!
  • quadrunner500quadrunner500 Member Posts: 2,721
They raise the position of the slide needle, allowing more fuel into the mixture.

HEY THIS IS A TOPIC ABOUT TRUCKS
  • quadrunner500quadrunner500 Member Posts: 2,721
On off-road vehicles, the needles may already have grooves cut, allowing you to adjust the position of the needles without shims, but not street bikes.

    Did you get that Dodge50?

Convertable over a Viper any day..

...Nobody ever even drives a Viper fast!....bunch of old men...

A 'vette is an old man's car too. How many have you seen driven by someone under 45. It's usually for the second childhood.
  • cdeancdean Member Posts: 1,110
Actually, i see quite a few young 'Vette drivers around Austin, as their daily car. but, there are lots of the older married couples catting around in convertibles too.
  • mgdvhmanmgdvhman Member Posts: 4,157
..usually yuppies with Dads moohlah though..

At least I have seen Vette's in action...I have yet to see a Viper even hit the gas..

back in my dumber years i actually raced a viper with my old S-10 lets say he made it to the next stop light before i left the one we started from. Seriously until then i didnt know how fast they could go. it wasnt some regualr 35mph road either it was a 55mp 2 way straight road we went about 2 mls. Guy just smiled when i pulled up next to him. I bet i could have given him a run for his money with my silverado though. I think i would take a vette over a viper because they have been around for so long but a viper wouldnt be bad either.

    of a Viper....for real...

I never liked Shelby Cobras either....

At least the Vette has some room...unlike the Viper...so cramped the roof has to be domed to fit your head...

    As Chevrolet says..
    "Corvette....the ONLY convertable that matters..."

I know someone who tried to race a Viper in a fully loaded Bravada. He was holding steady with the Viper then the Viper's Owner dropped it into 4th and he never saw the Viper again. What you need to race a Viper is a new Porche 911 Turbo that thing can eat a Viper for lunch.
  • obyoneobyone Member Posts: 7,841
twin turbos and NOS setup, unfortunately still wouldn't come close to Viper. Actually nothing streetlegal would...what was this topic about?
  • mgdvhmanmgdvhman Member Posts: 4,157
a Vette is better than a Viper...

Gimme a Twin Turbo Callaway or a ZR1 any day..

Come on you [non-permissible content removed]. How can you compare a vette to a Viper.

Im no Dodge fan but a Viper is in a class all alone.

And as if anyone including Carol Shelby gives a rats [non-permissible content removed] what your one side miniscule pee brain has to say---

I agree there all looks like the ram chicks dig those cause of the big rig look. U ever hear of a dodge engine??? NOPE but sure do hear abour the LS1 and vortecs alot because they are PROVEN and exceptional.

I do like the looks of the viper but a vette is as american as it comes like baseball and apple pie. I love that blue color on em too.

    for radical looks..

    Ram
    Viper
    Stealth
    PT Cruiser

Bit they are all under powered. They have a good design staff..but the same old farts on the engine team from the 60's that can't seem to make power under the hood.

Ram - fair..but still way behind for engines
PT - Hamster on a Neon frame
    Stealth...some pep...but where is the V-8?
Viper...best attempt yet.....but still no Vette.

Motor Trend did a comparison of four sports cars, I can't remember the other two cars but when the test was done they were several hundred miles away from home. One thing was unanimous - the drivers all wanted to claim the Vette for the trip home- and no one wanted the Viper. After a few days of fun the crappy ride and poor drivability had taken their toll. The Vette on the other hand was a pleasure to drive - fast or slow.

You wuss, from listening to your previous months worth of jabble, if it was not for Tim or anyone else closely associated with a GMC product your talk would have no meaning....

Get a real opinion--all by yourself......

The Viper as i said is radical...and is an Eye catcher....

But the Vette is classic styling...bigger...and something you can actually...well.....DRIVE!

Been Chevy all my life. My own opinion Tim has no influence on me. Im a wuss huh at least im not acting like third grader calling people names. I have my own opinions i wont buy anything but a gm product so there ya go.

...trade it on the Vette, pocket the difference.

I'm not sure that 911 Turbo can eat that Viper, since that turbo has to be on the boil, and Viper has cubic inches.

Guess I'll just keep driving a truck for now.
  • mgdvhmanmgdvhman Member Posts: 4,157
    Now that's an Idea Quad!
  • obyoneobyone Member Posts: 7,841
lots and lots of cubic inches...now if Dodge would put the Viper motor in a truck with a worthwhile trans...it might just be a miracle.
  • ford250ford250 Member Posts: 25
Well this topic is useless Ford rules. They sale the most trucks & fleet vehicles. So this is for junk Dodge, Gm, & Toyota. Get a real car or truck.
    Get a ford.
  • ryanbabryanbab Member Posts: 7,240
Oh god. They sale the most u mean they sell the most??? Only from a ford owner hahaha

I have and bought a Chevy...Just couldn't get over the Fords rear seat and front grill. Rides pretty good though...
  • ryanbabryanbab Member Posts: 7,240
On the dodge, ford and toyota are very small and not roomy at all. I think its cruel to make someone ride back there. The silverado by far has the most backseat room and no one can (well you can but you will look very stupid) argue with this.

I hear alot of clowns who don't work their trucks but surely ponitificate when it bemuses them....alas I digress....

    Quad,
Do you think Dodge50 is waiting for an answer from his daddy about the needle shims and why it would increase the power? LOL! Hell, I'd bet he's still trying to figure how the 5.0 is a 302!

    Why the anger?

First, this is a Ford, Dodge, Chevy topic. Not just Chevy. Second, what does it matter if I've posted before or not(Which I have by the way.) Third, the pseudo illiterate truckrme or trucks4me or whatever his name is is a Chevy supporter, you got be proud of that one. Red's a cry baby that can dish it out but can't take it, another great Chevy supporter and how can we forget the great Zbad71 the ultimate moronic Chevy supporter, I think he made a lot of people change brands.

A lot of us on here have owned all brands and make our decisions based on that. We're not some wet behind the ears pup whose daddy had a Chevy so they're the best.

BTW I think daddy is calling, something about not cleaning your room.

  • ryanbabryanbab Member Posts: 7,240
You guys are all talk. Everyone can talk #^#& but can you back it up??? I did drive all the brands and chevy was by far the best pickup truck thats why i chose it not cause my daddy has had chevys. I even drove a toyota i still cant believe that. Well i have better things to do now so ill let u all act like lil kidds.

drive them all, I work on them. Toyota is a little truck, even the new "full size". Ford, Chevy and Dodge all have good models, but if I were buying TODAY, I would buy a C 2500, not a Ford, Dodge or a Silvrado. The Ford super duty still has the suspension so bad the [non-permissible content removed] wouldn't copy it even after the patents ran out. I don't like the ride on a Dodge 2500, and did you ever try to find a place for your thermos jug in a Silverado? Ford may sell the most, but Microsoft Windows also sells more than MAC or OS/2. Sales do not equal quality in my book.

Have I missed offending anyone here yet?

    Harry
  • ford250ford250 Member Posts: 25
How can you buy a C2500 if it is not a Ford,Chevy,
    or Dodge.
  • oldharryoldharry Member Posts: 413
is the heavy duty Chevy. It is not the new Silverado design. The Silverados ride nice, and look pretty, but are not designed for heavy loading.

    Harry
  • bigsnagbigsnag Member Posts: 394
The twin I-beam suspension is not bad. There is nothing wrong with it. It may not ride and handle the best, but it is tough. That's the reason they left it on the superduty's. It will certainly outlast the comparable Chevy front end.
  • lariat1lariat1 Member Posts: 461
talking about, do the 2 wheel drive super-duties have twin traction beam suspension cause I know the 4 wheel drive versions have a solid front axel and if I remember right it is a dana 80 which is tough as nails.
