One increase is due to the addition of the auto trans into the MSRP. Its not an option anymore on the ext cab trucks. The option for the auto trans was $1095 when i bought my truck. Check and see if thats why it increased by over $900 i am about 95% sure thats the reason

Sorry to differ with you, but the power seat adjusters are NOT standard on the LS model.

I remember comparing my '95 Lincoln Mark VIII next to a friend's '95 Impala SS with the leather package. The smell of the leather varied greatly. The Mark had that rich Italian leather smell while the SS had.. a ...err...plasticky leather smell. I guess that's why the cars pricing was $15K apart. The rado with leather has that same smell when I checked them on the dealer's lot.

I have noticed that when I get above 55mph. I hear a noise in the lower righthand front glass area. Sounds as though bugs are hitting window or rain type of sound. Very bothersome on a quiet drive. Any help?

You didnot mention that the A95 bucket seats with "D" trim are in fact leather! That makes a big difference!

The LS model comes standard with a bench seat, not bucket seats & in cloth. All the leather seats come with the 6-way power seat. These seats are on standard in the LT model.

I have a 99' sierra it had the same noise you are talking about. It was the weather stripping that holds the windshield in. the dealer put a silicone under it on the sides of the windshield and taped it down to hold it down till it dried. No more noise. I guess the rubber just flops in the wind.

can anyone tell me why i can't or i should say when i can order a 2001 silverado 1500 extended cab with a leather bench 40-20-40 seat power 6-way slate color? my chevy dealer says they can't get order to take due to some restriction and the gmc dealer says they can get one anytime in a gmc. What gives?

..when you are bulding that many...you have to set a limit someplace....

While GMC at 2% of the market HAS to cater more as they are the little guy.....killer is...they are both made in the same plant by the same guys...

go figure...

some day GM should just allow Pontiac/Old/Buick dealers to sell Chevy trucks and dump GMC...it's dumb to have 2......or just make dealers "GM" dealers...instead of a Chevy or Olds...etc..

have a friend at a dealership here and he said there was a restriction on these (all power bench seats, I think) for awhile. (says that GM actually ran out of them (they are made by someone else)). BUT, I ordered a Z71 with a leather bench seat on Nov. 2. Talked to friend today and truck is to be built on Dec. 4 and should be here Dec. 10, supposedly! I would talk to dealer again and make sure he/she knows for sure that restrictions are still on, unless it has to do with region. I'm from southeast, but dont know if that matters.

as of last friday, there is no indication that the leather split bench will be available in mid november like planned. As i am in minnesota, there may be regional marketing plans so that the party in the southeast may get it.

Just to correct you the GMC's Are about 30% or so and Chevy's are about 70% alot different than 2%, 98%. BIG difference. In southern IL GMC's are as common as their Chevy Counterpart. As to me Ill stick with GMC. The dealer treats me well, I prefer the styleing and you can customize them more. IE. SLT with Bench Leather Seat

In Alaska GMCs are probably 40-45 percent of the market. It really comes down to personal preference over very minor styling differences or the dealer simply having the right color or options on one or the other. I saw my 89 sitting in the front row as I drove by and didn't even know it was a GMC until I started looking it over really close. When I went looking for my 2001 I had an affinity for GMC, but it was the styling that won me over. But when it comes to parts, I know that anything under the hood is the same as a Chevy, even if the hood itself is different.

I want to buy a new full size truck. It would have to have be a 4x4 and have either 4 doors or the extended cab. I really don't plan on pulling anything to big with it so either a small v8 or v6 will do just fine(I hope). Not owning a full size truck before I don't know which one to pick. Can anyone either give me suggestions, advice, or pros and cons of different models.

Full size pickup you have to at least get the smallest V-8 especially with the ext cab.

Suggestion go out truck shopping.

F150, supercrew
silverado,sierra (same thing basically)
ram
dakota (quad cab)
tundra

Then decide which os best for you

I bought the basic Silverado with 4.3 V6, regular cab long bed, auto. For the most part it has plenty of go, but it really doesn't hold speed on the highway. You have to work it. So get the 8 cyl. You might not be planning on towing or hauling right now, but you'll be surprised how much stuff winds up in the back of your truck. Good luck.

I am considering a 3" - 4" lift mainly for driving in snow. I don't need a suspension set up for offroading or a heavy duty set up. But I do want to buy and have installed the best system that will last and not at all interfere with anything under the vehicle. i.e I want the best possible
Who can give some advice ?

The composite bed will be offered in the most poular model- the extended-cab Z71 shortbox fleetside. However, I really can't see them NOT expanding this technology across their entire line. I doubt the 2001's will have it, but I'd bet money they all will before the 2003 MY.

I currently drive a Chevy S-10 with the 4.3 Liter V6 and use it to pull a lite-weight travel trailer (appx 4500 lbs. loaded) The truck is rated up to 5500, but it works very hard the entire trip. I am looking into a full size truck, but am cautious about anything "1/2 ton" (Chevy/GMC 1500 or Ford F150) as that is what my S-10 is rated. Is a full size 1/2 ton able to handle heavier loads easier than a smaller truck? I am definitely getting a V-8 with the full size, but should I step up to a 3/4 ton? H E L P ! ! !

This is NOT a fair comparison especislly in off road terms. If you are going to campare a Tacoma to anything compare it to a worthy vehicle like a jeep or a FJ. Not a street cruisin' GMC! My father in law called me up one time to take him to this place up in the woods. Pretty hairy place to get to. He wanted me to take him up there because he said his poor little 4x4 Gmc 1500 wouldn't make it. (Of coarse now he has traded for a Tundra)

you'd still have to take him up to the woods cause the Tundra AIN'T no better than a 4x4 GMC...especially with no locker. Funny how Toyota offers it in the Landcruiser and Taco but resists attempts to have it installed in the Tundra. Maybe Toyota is trying to tell the buyers something.
