So if I understand you right, I can take my x plan pricing and minus 8$K from it if I lease thru a 3rd party finace company?
Does it have to be a lease, or will the 8K apply to a purchase?
Still waffling on lease vs buy.
thks
and what is the average residual value for an s80 on a 3 or 4 year lease?
thanks
Yes, $1500 was due at signing (including all bank fees, acquisition fees, 1st month, registration, etc) - all was included, it was $1500 exact.
MSRP IS $41,300 - $42,500 (because of Venator wheels - if the car on the lot has rims on it, they will throw them in, otherwise u get standard wheels)
As far as residual is concerned, i honestly didn't ask them, because i didn't care, as i do not plan on buying the car ( I believe its 51% give or take?)
By the way, i need to clarify something - i was wrong when i posted that i got the lease through volvo financial because i actually got it through U.S. Bank.
Also, you are right Jay, i was told by Francisco too that the Volvo financial 2 yr lease is ONLY for base model and 10.5k miles (coz otherwise money factor is out of whack and it makes the car payment go up exponentially).
One thing u do need to know is that u absolutely need to have A+ credit (700+) to get this deal because the banks are getting tighter and tighter.
Jay, i will post some more information on Saturday as i convinced my cousin to lease the S80 as well from the same place, so this is what he will be signing on:
$1500 due at signing (1st month, registration...etc)
$389 a month (including tax - Chico, CA tax rate )
3 yr/ 15k miles per year
2008 Volvo S80 3.2 (Black with Black interior)
Personal Car Communicator
Climate Package
My cousins credit score was below 700 and so the monthly rate was $10 more and i couldn't convince them to throw in the venator wheels....
I will post the residual, money factor, etc on saturday. Good luck!!
S80 T6 Black with Charcoal interior-- wPCC, Climate, BLIS, Sat Prep 18" Chrome ventillator (IBM has Ford discount agreement) $44,480
0 Down but the 1st payment taxes etc = ~$3,000 (sounds high)
39 month lease @ $505 per mo
residual 51%
I am thinking the deal will be extended or better due to the slumping economy. :confuse: Going to the car show and going to look at LExus 350, Infinit M35 AWD etc.
Is it too late to custom order a Volvo versus taking one off the lot?
I really want the climate and sports apckages.
cheers
I plan to pick up my S80 this Friday- I posted the details of my deal on this board (message #89)- and am hoping that I'll be able to add an auto show rebate!
A couple of things on some of the recent posts- the MF should be .00165 (3.96% interest rate) with the 3rd party lease. Also, with respect to the X-Plan, the $6500 lease incentive (for T6/3.2) should be applied to invoice price (or perhaps $200-$500 over invoice). That's a better deal. There is also a loyalty bonus of $1000 for current Volvo lessees (n/a for me)
My car came from another dealer- I was very specific about options and colors, and my dealer says they had to trade 2 cars to get mine. You may want to do an internet search on inventory at local dealers to see what they have, but your salesperson should be willing to work for your business and do it him/herself.
Finally, my dealer told me that the last 2008 S80 will be built in Sweden on May 15, so whatever inventory dealers have in May will have to last until August.
Hope that helps- and good luck.
I know I can do a lot better - get a lot more car for very little more money - on a two year lease because I've already spoken with a salesman at Volvo on a few occasions.
Why is Volvo being so aggressive? Are they having trouble selling cars?
Also this might be a great time of month to get into a new car because the dealership/salesman might be extra aggressive trying to get deliveries out by month end. Or it might be a lousy time if the incentives for April improve.
Thoughts, comments, suggestions?
As for the lease deals, there are 24 month deals on the Base 3.2 through Volvo Financial, and there are separate deals with a third party bank on the T6 ($6500 off) and V8 ($9000 off). Also, you get a free Garmin Nav system.
Why are they being aggressive? Because prior to these S80 deals the car wasn't selling and, the economy has slowed buying for all manufacturers these days. IMHO, the car is a steal with these current incentives - $125 a month less than a similarly equipped Audi A6 3.2 or $200 a month less for an MB E350 4Matic...and about $25 a month less than the smaller BMW 328xi- all based on similar equipment/money out of pocket/lease terms. (I'm not a salesman- just have been doing a lot of research and planning on getting a T6 this week.)
Hard to know if April will be better (the free Nav is supposed to go away, not sure about the other incentives), but the lease incentives did get worse by $500 from Feb to March. Hard to imagine the incentives getting a lot better, but who knows?
Hope that helps.
Could you please provide the web-page to register the coupon and the rules page.
As far as I've heard, the coupons are for the members of the Teachers credit union.
At least that's what some dealers in NY area told me. :confuse:
Perhaps you could copy-paste that link here?
Which local dealer did you deal with?
Maybe I could talk to them and get a clarification on the matter.
In response to the other posts, I know my dealer has no idea about the rebate, but probably because it does not involve dealers. Rather, this a direct cash rebate to folks who attended an auto show, filled out a form, and can prove they purchased/leased a Volvo before June.
I called Volvo , the NY Autoshow, and my local dealers , and no-one knew what I was talking about :confuse:
All I heard was " Teachers Union", "VCOA members", "COSTCO members" etc, but nothing really conclusive.
Does anybody have a real info on that mysterious offer? :confuse:
The website is volvoprogram.com, but you do need a code to get in.
Pjsulivin1, could you please share yours? They (codes) don't seem to be user sensitive and we all might be able to benefit from your generosity
Thank you.
Dear Pjsulivin1 or amcdad, please with your great heart to share that code with us. In fact, I live in Boston and I can't attend the NYC Autoshow and I am about to decide to lease the S80 before 3/31 to get the lease promotion. I really would love to get the additional $500 rebate to compensate portion of the $2953 due to signing as the volvo national ads promotion. Many thanks in advance.
I know about the "coupon" you are referring to and can help you with it...however, the problem is that the promotion is only until 3/31, which is Monday. You'd have to make a deal and take delivery by Monday, which seems to be impossible. If by any chance the promotion is extended beyond Monday, I'll be glad to help you. Good luck with your search. I got the 3.2 a few weeks ago here on LI and am extremely happy with it. I like it more than the Lexus ES330 whose lease I completed.
If you could help myself and Chuchumouth out, I'm sure getting the car by 3/31 shouldn't be problem.
At least, not for me.
Thank you in advance.
BTW, I just picked up my S80 T6 2 days ago and absolutely love it. The details of my deal are on this board (message #89- now with the addition of my $500 auto show rebate). Anyone looking to lease the S80 should also consider the third party bank lease as well as the nationally advertised Volvo Financial Lease program. The third party lease deal with 5th 3rd bank includes a $6500 incentive for the T6 and a $9000 incentive for the V8. Residual on the T6 for 36/15K is 49%, MF is .00165. The free Nav is apparently offered through the end of the month.
Good luck, and thanks for all the help on this board!
I just came back from the Boston volvo dealer after 2 hrs of negotiation and test drive for my first time the S80 3.2.
On my case, I think there is a problem for that dealer of Boston getting the car by 3/31... in fact, (not sure if they are bullshiting me or not...), they told me that those national promotion black or white S80 3.2 basic car are not really available in any where in Boston, Volvo never really ship those cars to their dealer. So by the time that they will get the car (which will be from NJ port), it will be 3-4 weeks and that national promotion will be expired... To get the promotion the car must be at their dealer on 3/31 in order to complete all the paperworks, etc. I told him that seems to be a scam of Volvo ads to me...
On the other hand, they are trying to convince me to take another of their existing in stock S80 3.2 with climate package, Silver metallic paint... (no portable NAV thus). They quote me the total down is total of $3990 by Chase vs total of $3450 (already included all the titles, etc.) by Volvo Financial national ads. The Monthly Fee is 343/month chase vs 359/month volvo, 10,000miles/yr chase vs 10,500miles/yr volvo as advertised in NewEnglandVolvo Retailer.com....
My wife and I were a bit disappointed and frustrated and left the dealer with no deal yet...
Dear all Experts in this forum... do you think my dealer is trying to BS and scam me? or do you think that is still similar and good deal as the current Volvo national ads?
Thanks for your advice
Chuchumouth (Boston)
AFAIK, they get 30 days to locate the car while holding the rate.
You may wish to reconsider going with alternative bank though, because there's no guarantee that there wouldn't be any surprises after the end of the lease.
Also, Volvo waives $1000 in damages at the end of the lease, but does charge $395 in "termination fees". Other banks may not waive anything at all and might nickel and dime you to death for every little nick and scratch on the vehicle.
BTW, did you have any luck with that elusive coupon/mailer?
First of all, I think any dealer telling you that you'd have to wait weeks and weeks to get an S80 the way you want is full of it. It's true that most of the 3.2s are ordered with the climate pkg, but that only adds a few dollars on the lease, not really enough to make a big difference. Judging from the numbers you wrote from Boston, I think you should get your car here in NY! Seriously, the car I returned last month when I got my S80 was a Lexus ES330 which I leased in New Jersey. They were more than happy to deal with me, and at the time, it beat any of the NY dealers.
Now Jay...if you want to do this tomorrow, here's what I'd recommend. I presume you're on Long Island.....you need to be a member of the Teacher's Federal Credit Union. You should open an account with as little as $5 (see if there's a branch near you). Look at their website and on the home page, you'll see a link to the Volvo promotion. They deal through GrooveCar which you can call and tell them you are a member of Teachers FCU and you want to take advantage of the $500 coupon. I'm not sure where on LI you are, but if you're near Huntington, I may be able to save you some more money. Let me know if you are. The 3.2 S80 should not cost you more than low $2000s down and low $300s a month for a 27 month lease through Teachers FCU. If you have numbers from a dealer on LI, I'm sure I can get you a better price. Also, if GrooveCar tells you that you must go to one of their dealers, tell them that's fine, as that's no problem. The only hitch is that you have to be able to say you're a member before dealing for the car. If you become a member in order to get the lease, they won't give you the $500 off. Good luck, and let me know how things go.
buying volvo today if you can help me out with 500 auto show code would be a great help.
Thx
gr
As explained, there is no auto show code that can be used in NY. If you are in NY and are on or near Long Island, you can get the $500 deal through Teachers Federal Credit Union through today. The lease rate through this credit union is better than the national ad. If you are making the deal tonight, and are on LI, I can get some more money off at the dealership.Let me know if this is the case. I'll check back before 6PM.
Now, it's true that you do need a confirmation letter from Volvo, but I had someone stop by the NY Autoshow on the 11th hour and fill out the form.
To make a long story short, I (or rather my wife) am $500 richer
So, at the end , we are paying $362 (plus tax) per month, 24months, 10kmiles/year with $0/0/0 at signing for a $39500 car. In my opinion that's a lot of car for the money . :shades:
Just checking in again...can you tell me what the current 3rd party bank lease incentives are for the S80 T6 and V8?
Thanks,
Jabber
Here is my initial offer from a dealer in Update NY for a 24 month lease on a base Black S80 3.2 with the climate package. $4,700 down, $399 / month. This is +$20 / month over the base offer on the Volvo website for the Climate Package. The down payment consists of:
First Payment $399.98
Taxes $1027.93
Dealer Fees $67.50
Acquisition Fee $895.00
Cap Reduction $2309.59
My take is regardless of selling price, rv, lease rate factor, etc., there should be an amount to target as total outlay. Is $13,877 a good number over 24 months (~$578 / month)?
Thanks...
Thanks
36 months and 12K miles for 2008 Volvo S80 with metallic paint, climate, park assist, and satellite prep:
Cap Cost $33,261
Resid $19,524
Acquisition $595
Tax 8%
Rate 4.5%
Nothing down, all in monthly cost @ $555 / month. I cannot get their numbers to match any lease calculator online, but I see another dealer's deal that looks superior - http://www.mtkiscovolvo.com/lease/dsp_leasespecial.cfm?id=5
I am thinking that ~$520 seems more reasonable, but I cannot ferret out the place where the number was inflated. Thoughts?

I apologize for this general question but I would like to have a number to start with dealer I am visiting this week.
