    (1) I was just quoted $23408 (which includes the destination fee) for a package #3 prius (seaside blue). Is this good?

    (2) Also, doc fee is $99. Has anyone been able to get this waived?

A reporter for a weekend news program is looking to interview consumers in the Los Angeles area who are interested in purchasing a hybrid. Please reply to ctalati@edmunds.com no later than Thursday, March 22, 2007 with your daytime contact info.
  • lccalvert_1999lccalvert_1999 Member Posts: 69
Yes it does. If you add destination to edmunds, you get $21,999 I believe. However, every dealer I have seen has the invoice around $22,500.

    Hello all,
I was hoping someone who has recently bought in the Metro Denver area could direct me to a good dealer for a Prius. I'm undecided on the package specs as well, so any feedback is appreciated. Also, brand new vs. slightly used? Any ideas?
    Thanks,
  • owenpopowenpop Member Posts: 12
Yeah, I get the same 21,999 number.

Longo in So. Cal. quoted me 22,000 but I don't know if they were including the $620 destination fee.

Does that price of $21,500 include everything except tax? Great deal, Lee. I'm going to use that one here in LA?
  • lccalvert_1999lccalvert_1999 Member Posts: 69
It did if I were buying... however, since I am leasing, it was another $595 to get to my cap cost. I'm not putting anything down except the 1st payment... $330 per month for the lease.
  • owenpopowenpop Member Posts: 12
Here is the deal I'm going to present to purchase a Prius w/Package #2.

    $23,814 OTD (or thereabouts)

    $3,000 down

60 months (first two years 0% financing)

    $340 a month (or thereabouts)

    Think I have a shot?

    Thanks.

I wonder if anyone has gotten a special deal in Providence or Boston area. I quote for current Toyota national special lease program and the Internet department from a dealer told me I gotta pay $250 per month after taxes (includes some other fees) which doesn't make sense to me as the payment shown on Toyota website is only $199 plus taxes per month. The tax in Providence is only 7%. My credit score is good enough to qualify the leasing program though.

Does anyone know how to get the money factor of current Toyota leasing special program?
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------
The down payment is $1999 (includes first month payment of $199.00, acquisition fee of $550.00, customer capitalized cost reduction of $1,250.00, and security deposit of $0). The lease end purchase option is $12,640.
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------
So the total price with the vehicle if I buy over at the end of lease term (exclude taxes) is $1999 + $199 * 35 + $12,640 = $21,604 which is less than the MSRP price $22,795. How could that be possible? And on Toyota website, it mentions about "$19,825 adjusted capitalized cost assumes dealer participation", what does it mean?

    Thanks for ur attention here.

Hi sc4la. The money factor that you were quoted for this car is a little high. Toyota Financial Services' current buy rate lease money factor for a 2007 Toyota Prius in its Los Angeles region is .00113 for consumers who qualify for its "Tier 1+" credit tier. Make sure that this is the factor that the dealer uses to calculate your monthly payment.

You never mentioned this car's selling price. This is a very important number to know because the selling prices of leased vehicles are negotiable, just as if you were paying cash for or financing them. The market for the Prius seems to have cooled off a little bit in some areas. The days of dealers having waiting lists and getting full MSRP for it are gone. Shop around for the lowest price that you can get on this car and then have the dealer that gives it to you use the aforementioned money factor to calculate your lease payment.

Hey Addie. I have not seen Toyota Financial Services' specific March money factor for its Chicago region, but in most areas its current buy rate lease money factor for a lease of an '07 Toyota Prius is .00113 for consumers who qualify for its "Tier 1+" credit tier.

Hi onetomk. As you may already be aware, purchasing a Toyota in the Southeastern U.S. is different than doing so in the rest of the country. This is because Toyota sells vehicles through an independent distributor in your area. This distributor uses its own bank to lease vehicles rather than Toyota Financial Services. I can tell you that SE Toyota's current buy rate lease money factor for a 36 month lease of a 2007 Prius is .00159, but I have not seen its residual values.

Hello Steve. The lease program that the dealer told you about looks right to me. The money factor that you were quoted for the '07 Prius that you are interested in is right in line with SE Toyota's current buy rate for this model. Outside of the Southeastern U.S., Toyota Financial Services' current buy rate lease money factor and residual value for a 36 month, 12,000 mile per year lease of this car are .00113 and 57%, respectively for consumers who qualify for its "Tier 1+" credit tier.

    Hello Car_man,

This is the quote I received yesterday for a 2007 Prius with package #3. This probably includes carpet and other items which come to $192 over MSRP -($25,500)
    MSRP: $25,692 - my cost $24,500 -$1,323 over Inv.
    INV: $23,177
M.F. .00055 (1.32%) same as Feb. Resdidual looks
like 51%. They said the residual was $13,140.
TERMS: 36 months and 12,000 miles per year.
I am considering ordering this car tomorrow (3/23/07)
WHAT DO YOU THINK? Appreciate your thoughts!

    Hello Car_man,
Many thanks for your prompt response. While I agree that the money factor on said vehicle is .00113 in certain regions I have also discovered that in TN it is .00024. What I have not been able to confirm is the vehicle's residual in TN and/or Virgina. Those dealers advise that I must choose a particular car and that car's invoice reflects an individual residual - this appears strange to say the least. To complicate matters further, the residuals which those dealers advise of appears to be extremely low (i.e. - a residual of $13,650 for a Prius Touring with PKG #3). I can confirm that the residual in the SE is 53%, plus a $1,700 bonus added thereafter.

    Thx.

I had my financing numbers all wrong.

Okay, so here's the deal I want to try and get.

    Package #:

    23,814 OTD

    ZERO down

    $409 monthly.

    Sorry for the previous post.
  • lccalvert_1999lccalvert_1999 Member Posts: 69
Right now, Toyota dealers are not selling vehicles at MSRP. Look at the original deal I posted... the 'sales' price of the vehicle (cap cost for a lease) was about $2000 below MSRP.
  • toyota_chicktoyota_chick Member Posts: 3
I can do that on a pkg #3
  • toyota_chicktoyota_chick Member Posts: 3
Thats only $400 off sticker. I can do better than that on a pkg 1 . Im in nothern NJ. Ask them for 22 even or 21,800 thats a good deal! :)

As a dealer you got a Great deal! :)

    Hi all -

I've been hunting around for a pckg 4. Best quote I've gotten so far is $26,125 out the door. I really like the bluetooth option -- do you think this a fair price? I think I read a previous post with 26,100 (although I've read so many reviews I can't keep them all straight)

    Many Thanks!
  • carlstraubcarlstraub Member Posts: 50
    Hi,

I went to edmunds.com, new cars, toyota, Prius, pkg #4 AND the $665 in admin costs.
    MSRP is $26,230
    Invoice is $24,382.

SO if your $26.1K is with Calif tax & Lic its OK
    IF NOT

I bought 2 pkg #2 Prius cars (separate dealers acct trade in with one) for Edmunds invoice late Feb. The Edmunds invoice is usually about $400 lower than dealer printed invoice.

My suggestion is to get the Edmunds numbers. Then call or email dealers telling them you will buy TODAY for that price. You may be able to do better but surely you shouldn't pay any more than $24.4K. plus tax/license
There is a current over supply in all USA basically.

SOOOOOOOO it all depends on what "out the door" means.

    Carl
PS the special financing runs through March--unknown if it will continue.

    TYVM --
price includes tax, license etc. That's the best price I've gotten from about 5 bay area dealers. I was even told by one dealer that if that is the price I should buy right away (from the other cheaper dealer). I'm wondering if I could get a better price going a bit further, or if I should just buy local. Yes - seems like every dealer I've talked to has prius' on the lot - good for us! :D
heard financing is only until 4-2-07, so i'm trying to make a decision soon
    thanks again!!

Have you thought of buying a lesser package?
I'd like leather and bluetooth (can live without the nav.) so I've been looking into getting a Package #2 and then adding leather ($1250) and bluetooth ($350). Saves quite a bit from Package #6 which is the only model offered with leather.
Anyone out there had experience adding bluetooth after purchase?
    Thanks.

Actually I got one with package #1 for 21800 in central jersey. Thanks for your advice.
  • davidlnidavidlni Member Posts: 3
I got the following figure (in Rhode Island) for leasing Touring model with package #2.

    Sale Price: $24,212
    Residual: $13,500
Down: $1,999 + $600 (1st month payment and acquisition fee)
    Monthly payment: $273.48

    And I asked for,

    Residual: $12,500
    Down: $1,999
    Monthly payment: $250

So far no luck. Any suggestion.

P/s: BTW, I wonder does the car selling in Phoenix (SW area) have any different treatment due to weather concern compared to those sell in New England, or vice versa.

    thanks for the tip
Glad to know the price for bluetooth - my local dealer is selling 2 (1 red, 1 gray) packs 2 for 23670 OTD. Best price I've seen here is 24,500 - so this looks like a pretty good deal. What do you think of the HID lamps and integrated fog lamps?
  • sriessries Member Posts: 1
    Hello,

I'm looking to buy a Prius in Austin, TX, and want to know if dealers are willing to negotiate or if they can stick to sticker price. All three local dealers have at least 15 on the lot, so there's no waiting list anymore.

    Thanks!

see msg #485 down - looks like a few recent buyers in your area can give you good advice.
I emailed about 7 different dealers in my area before even stepping into a show room - then had them outbid one another. Nice to have the internet. :)
  • owenpopowenpop Member Posts: 12
Thanks for posting (message #436). I'm in the LA area and researching a similar model.
Does your $26,600 include everything but Tax, doc. fee, and license/tire?
  • darinfdarinf Member Posts: 3
Yes. The price was before Tax, doc, reg, etc. This was for a Package #6 Touring with the CA accessory kit.

I haven't checked in a while, but back then, there were so many in stock everywhere that they were willing to discount up to $4000 off MSRP. Now with gas prices back up, I have no idea if they are discounting as much.

Seems if they have a lot in stock, they should be willing to discount. If they'll show you their inventory sheets, look for the cars that have been on the lot the longest. My sales person showed me their list and I picked the one that had been there for 3.5 months so the discount wasn't even a negotiation really. They just said, OK when I made them the offer.

    Good luck,
    -Darin

You said that Earl Stewart Toyota delivered your car to you? Did you handle the sale entirely through the Internet? How long did it take to complete your sale and have your car delivered?
  • riposteriposte Member Posts: 160
The sale was handled over the Internet, with a couple of phone calls sprinkled in, just because it was easier to communicate that way. I contacted them on a Monday, and had the car on a Thursday. It could have been sooner, but they had to wait for the car to arrive on Wednesday.

I live in Florida; they drove the Prius to my house, with a chase car to pick up the driver.

They had overnighted the paperwork I needed to sign the day before, so it was at my house the day they delivered the car. I read it over, signed it, and gave them that paperwork, and a check when they arrived.

They were gone inside of a half hour.

    Very easy.

I am interested in purchasing a Prius with package #3 and live in Central NJ. What deals have others gotten recently? Any feedback on the dealership in Lawrenceville vs New Brunswick?

Is it possible to add leather seats without getting package #6?

    Thanks

After I've done my research for a week and contacted a few Toyota dealerships, I found my good deal with price at $21,919 including 4 floor mats and a cargo mat. So we went there and got what exactly we wanted. They have big discount and good finance service comes from Toyota. If you really want one, better get one before 3/1/2007 becuase IRS can give you about $1,556 tax credit back. That's nice. So is the car.

Hi all - test drove the prius yesterday! Decided on package #2. Found out if you get a bluetooth installed aftermarket it voids the whole electrical warranty. Might be a bit risky.

Also found out there are no more carpool stickers being issued by CA. Apparently they opened 10K more slots at the beginning of the year but those are all taken as well. Anyone have any more info on this? One of the great perks of a hybrid is being able to drive in the carpool lane by yourself.... sigh....
  • gagricegagrice Member Posts: 31,450
You can get a carpool sticker if you have a CNG vehicle. Friend just got one for his Crown Vic that runs on CNG. If you want good mileage the Civic GX is the best bet.

    PS
He bought the Crown Vic from the Modesto Police surplus sale for $600. Runs great plus the carpool lane benefit. Here is the list of CNG vehicles that qualify for the HOV sticker.

First time poster, long time reader. I just traded in my 2004 Chevrolet (gasp) Corvette for a new Prius with Pkg#6. Got a great deal at Manhattan Beach Toyota, paying invoice for the car ($26,300 + floor mats)and got a more than fair deal on my trade. Had tons of equity in the Vette so I didn't use the financing incentive, but that is a great deal right now. I have to say that I thought going from a 350hp car to the Prius would have been tougher, but I live around a bunch of engineers and right now I am the King of the Block...geeks of the world unite! There is so much technology packed in this car that when I made my traditional read of the owner's manual, I was overwhelmed and decided I'd refer to it on an "as needed" basis. I find myself being challenged to maximize my MPG, so this car will never be boring to drive. I figure I'll spend 50% on fuel of what I did in the Vette. I'm currently using a stick to keep the chicks off me with this car. ;) Very cool car!!! :shades:

    Hi.
I am considering leasing a toyota prius.
What exactly is the federal tax credit? Is it deducted directly from the tax owed to the federal government? (for example if i owed $2000 in taxes, would it be reduced to 200 with an $1800 tax credit on hybrid car?)
Would leasing a prius also qualify me for the tax credit in california?
    Thanks.

Considering Prius lease offered here in Grand Rapids Michigan. I would prefer to put $0.00 down. I have driven the car and like it so that part is over with. What should I expect to ge tthis car for monthly? I don't really "get" the figures below. I know that they can deal on leases also. Should I start by offering what I want to pay for the car overall. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks...

    Hi,

I live in the San Francisco Bay Area and am looking for the money factor and residual fidures for a 2007 prius. I have been talking to dealerships and they are telling me that the current money factor and residual value offered by toyota are .0004 and 48% respectively for a 36 month lease. I was looking in this forum and i got .001311 and 57% respectively for a 36 month lease. the second one is clearly more attractive. what are the true figures?

If I lease a Prius I know I don't ge the tax credit. Does the dealership or the leasing company get the tax credit or does anybody get credit on a lease. thanks??
  • 8thyota8thyota Member Posts: 2
2007 Prius, Blue, package 6, $25,499 plus tag & title, etc.

Local rep told me the 7 yr--100,000 mile warranty was over $2,000 and I countered with my credit union has the same deal for just over $900.

He said that was an insurance policy where they tried to deny every claim. I told him they paid great on my Chevy truck. He Said the Toyota was a bumper to bumper warranty, much better than the insurance company. I was not sure, so I came here.

I now have the Toyota 7 yr, 100,000 mile warranty with zero deductible for $990. If 7 yr and 75,000 miles would work, that was $695. WOW!! I called Toyota customer service and they said it was a legal warranty and all Toyota dealers had to honor it.

What about the 4 year, 55,000 mile service plan for $875?
Toyota Customer Service said just about the same thing. THEN I called local dealers, one implied not all dealers accept those prepaid coupons. Back to Toyota Customer Service.

I bought the 7yr, 100,000 mile warranty, zero deductible and the prepaid maint. agreement from Troy (prepaid maint too).

I asked the local dealer about the perma-plate protection?
Their guy asked if I would be interested in a deal for $695 and they would do the applications each year? He offered this because of my health problems. Then...THEN his boss said no. Won't say why. Just seems odd.

When I asked Folsom Lakes finance department about the prepaid maint. contract at $875, the man says he gets paid 20% to write up the contract and he wouldn't do it for such a small amount. I almost called the owner to inform him of his dynamo employee, but didn't.

I bought my car over the internet, asking 4 local dealers and an out of town dealer. Roseville emailed me a price for a 2007 Prius, package 5, $25,400 I think. But Folsom Lake had the color my wife wanted and they matched the price.

Folsom Lake has a GREAT service dept. Roseville serviced my new Cressida for 5 years and were just a dealer...make money
and good night. Folsom Lake comes to my house (7 miles), gets my Toyota (Avalon, 4-runner, Prius, etc.)even for an oil change. They won't even take a tip. So we have bought 3 Toyotas from Folsom-Lake Toyota because of their service department. I should mention I am ill, but they still do not HAVE to do it.

We just picked up a 2007 White Toyota Prius /w Package #5 with 4 miles for $25222 + Tax/Doc at Toyota Palo Alto.

Dich Tran and Clyde from there were extremely nice and helpful. We are very pleased! The amount of things you can do with the nav is a bit overwhelming. =)
