FYI: i have crafted a wire rack to fit onto the cargo bars of my XLS - a few hours of cutting, bending and fitting... but the result is an excellent rack that stays put and allows easy use of bungee cords to fasten loads on it

This link about a loose speaker on the deck of a rear shelf emphasizes why it's important to tie loose loads down. ("man was left paralyzed after the car he was driving was rear-ended and a non-mounted speaker in his car flew forward and hit him, breaking his neck.")
best partition is a metal grid, but i do have some fishing net i used for my Subaru that's too small for the Outie
with a hoop across the headliner & grabhandles and the headrests as an anchor, it was effective and cheap
"Yakima Low Rider + 48 inch Cross Bars + 38 inch Fairing.
I will post some pictures over the weekend, when we will be done with the snow. The fairing is a must, a lot of wind noise above 40mph without it, plus it looks good"
