Did you recently take on (or consider) a loan of 84 months or longer on a car purchase?

as it happened,I simutainously turn the key and pressed the "LOCK"
button on the key.Stumped I took the key out and unlocked the car
with the remote again then put the key back in and away it went.
I have read posts were the sensor that reads the key chip has failed
and will not initiate starter sequence and they had to be replaced.
Another instance was reported that cable interlock that runs between
the gear shift mechanism to the ignition lock was out of adjustment
giving the same no start symptom(as if it wasn't in P or N).
Batteries are an either or proposition you got a bad one supplied
to Dodge by it supplier,it happens! The static shock is common to
many cars when specific enviromental factors are met,you slide
across the seat and zap. There are grounding strips that you can
install that attach to the underside of the car touch the ground these
can help. You didn't say in what way the seatbelt doesn't work but
a COMPETENT dealer should be able fix that.
Find a different dealer the one you're using obviously is not trying.
My SXT was built June '06 by the way.
that recognizes the key code otherwis it would not even
start with the jump. There have a few posts about defective
batteries that las a few months,I would not suspest the
charging system either as you made it to the dealer and
it restsrted.Insist they replace the battery with a temp so it
can be tested in use and make sure they check all the
terminals.
There are a lot of STUPID dealerships out there no matter what you drive,
whenever in doubt try another.I realize that's easier said then done in
some geographical circumstances but your peace of mind and safety
come first a second opinion is always a plus.
I had the same issues and all the dealer would say "we can't duplicate the issue/problem". I got so tired of it. Like I told the other people in this forum... bite the bullet and bail out while you can. Trade that car in for another car. The Caliber is a nice looking car however, it has so many flaws. Chrysler/Dodge won't buy back your car... especially now that they are begging for money, no matter how much you write them, no matter how much proof you have, no matter how much you beg. They don't care about their customers all they care about is getting money. I really how you start seeing the light when it comes to making the correct decision. Good Luck
I love the car and it now runs better than when it rolled off the truck....but, I dont think I will ever buy a first edition of a new model ever again!! This is the 7th Chrysler product that I have owned and the first with any major problems....I am not yet ready to give up on Chrysler...assuming of course they survive!!
P.S. these boards are great...I have learned so much just by reading about others experiences.....
having a STUPID dealership.
Your A/C problem could be as simple as an airlock in the refrigerant
path, low refrigerant due to a system leak or as complicated as a
worn/damaged compressor.There was a Technical Service Bulletin
or TSB #24-006-07 issued covering the fault.
The rear window washer leaking after usage was a complaint on the
'07s(mine did it) and was cured with the placement of "check valve"
in the supply line '08 and up had it from factory.
Yes the black plastic turns whitesh grey in all sunny climates and
with you being in the SW US it probabbly happened faster and
is more distinct. Most owners including myself use products such
as "Mothers Back to Black" or "Forever Black".I use Mothers and
apply it 2x a year with the results being that mine looks factory new.
The top glove box cover again was a problem noted on '07s and
generally was replaced with little hassle under warranty in that
time period.
If you would like to see all the TSBs for ALL Caliber models I would
suggest you follow this link:

Then find a dealer with a brain and ethics.
while i was driving I noticed a it does not pull fast as the engine noise, once you stop the at a signal the car wont go forward, there was a noise from the engine before & I talked to a Mechanic, he said the Power steering pump needs to be replaced, I call the dealer he told PS pump is $185.00 and back order. in the meantime the is not running as normal! did any one had this Issue!
Thanks.
36,000 miles - Right Strut leaking needed to be replaced
42,000 miles - Outer tie rods on both sides replaced
50,000 miles - Left front strut leaking
60,000 miles- lower control arms, ball bearings need replaced

Spoke to Dodge, claim there is nothing they can do except pay $100?!?!?!?!?
Come on, i bought a lemon!
