    No. I hate electronic parking brakes on any performance car... especially a true sports care like the C7. BTW - Porsche is just as guilty of this nonsense and I hate it in their cars too.

    The biggest problem I had with the Impala I recently rented is that if you set the electronic parking brake in traffic then tried to release it when the light turned green, the car dinged and told you to hit the regular brake first. Luckily, I finally figured out that if you just stepped on the gas, it'd turn itself off. But in an emergency brake loss situation, a lever would be better I think.

    I have to ask dg0472 why would you set the "PARKING BRAKE" in traffic? I could understand if it was a manual tranny and you wanted to grab something in the back seat or jump out and get something out the trunk. But in an automatic you would just throw it in park. The car's programming is smart enough to know that parking brakes in automatic tranny vehicles are mainly used on hills which is why it tells you to apply the brake first to keep from rolling on the transmissions parking pawl.

    There is no need to engage the parking brake in traffic (assuming he's talking about starting the car on a hill) because the C7 has a very nice hill assist function. If you start moving on a certain incline, the car will automatically engage the parking brake until you start moving forward. It's a great feature. (I'm a C7 owner since October.)

    BTW, the electronic parking brake is just fine. I had a lever-style parking brake in my C5, and I don't miss it.

    I would prefer a regular lever to an electronic button. My main reason is because it seems like replacing a simple parking brake with a button is just adding an extra pointless electronic doo-dad that has the potential to break. It’s not really much of a concern, I’m just chiming in since the question was asked…

    I could care really less about using an emergency brake to slide the rear end of a Corvette around; they were thoughtful enough to provide the car with enough power that simply pressing down further on the throttle allows you to do that, lol!
