    This is a DSG equipped Porsche, right? VW does the same thing on the CC with DSG. Its basically a button at the end of the gas pedal that puts the car in the optimal gear for acceleration. Try 'pushing' it from any speed and you'll always end up in the correct gear.

    Now if they can only fix the DSG 'creep' at low speeds it would be the perfect transmission.

    11 is good but 12 is better. Lets add a nitrous kit to this thing.

    My '06 Range Rover has this too. It goes from Brontosaurus slow to Triceratops slightly less slow.

    You can avoid the other vehicle faster by braking than by accelerating.... even in a Porsche.

    Kinda silly, if you press the pedal to the floor you want full power DUH. I've never had a problem with the transmission being in the wrong gear in my Acura and no need for a push through. Although it is only a 5 speed auto it is rarely in the wrong gear. From what I understand Honda's shift logic also gets info from the drive by wire system and monitors not only how much throttle you want but how quickly. If you quickly press the accelerator it will drop down to the lowest possible gear before the pedal even reaches the floor. If you quickly release it the brake assist prepares for maximum braking power. If it senses a hill the slightest press on the accelerator will engage a downshift and it will hold that gear until it senses the car is no longer climbing a hill. Going down the hill releasing the pedal will cause a downshift for engine braking. And even though there is no ECO mode it still gets 30 mpgs. Honda was criticized for keeping a 5 speed in the lineup when everybody else had 6, 7 and even 8 speeds but it still works better than most.

    Can anyone confirm craigo81's observation about the CX-5? We might buy one and that is interesting. Loved the transmission in that car.

    This is called a kick-down switch. Hardly anything new or innovating edmunds. Im actually a little upset that even in manual mode, the PDK will act on its own and initiate a kick-down...
