    Cool! I was actually about to say in another post that I didn't understand why you guys had not done this, but I decided to check the FR-S page just in case. Glad I don't have to remove my foot from my mouth. Anyway, that looks like some pretty good software.

    Let me get this straight, you guys paid to have a almost stock car tuned BEFORE you add forced induction?

    That is a waste of money.
    Don't worry about what other people think. Drive what makes you happy.

    You saw 173/143 stock...with just a tune, assuming this guy knows what he's doing...you will see 180-182 hp and 148-149 torque with these improvements pretty much consistent from 2500-7000. No help with the dip. There will be no serious improvements until they go FI. Early results with FI are showing around 300 whp/220 lb./ft torque with around 8 lb. of boost. Car has too high a compression ratio to run a lot of boost, and it's not a particularly strong block design. Stock clutch starts slipping at 220 lb./ft. and any more than around 15 minutes of track use results in pretty serious overheating. Going FI with this car will be interesting and fairly expensive. They already have about $5,300 in wheels, tires and exhaust - turbo/SC with tuning will be around $7k, new clutch say $1,500 incl. install, cooling system mods say $800 incl. install. With sundries, sorting and incl. tax, when they have finished with FI they will be within shouting distance of $45,000 incl. original vehicle cost.

    One journalist commented that was not a very "special" engine, which is similar to what I read from the Miata engine being not a particularly sporting piece by itself. Is that your impression? How does it compare now compare to hallowed 2-litre v-tec engines from Honda?
