    So do you feel the extra traction/intervention/control? Or is it just a safety cushion rarely used. Finally did you know that 83% of all facts posted on the internet are rubbish? (including this one?)

    You definitely notice the extra traction of full time AWD vs FWD/RWD in wet/rainy conditions. Even WOT from a dead stop on the painted lines elicit no drive wheel spin or stability control intervention.

    She sighs with relief - OMG. This testing of AWD on rainy LA streets in like testing seat heaters on rainy LA streets. AWD cars don't turn or stop any better than non-AWD cars - so how is that going to help you avoid an accident - in that tiny number of situations in which you need more accelerative traction to avoid crashing? AWD is really a help in snow or ice. In rain? I'm sorry - that's really a stretch. I don't have much trouble keeping myself from going WOT from a dead stop on painted lines in my FWD car.

    I've seen some pretty decent AWD systems out there, and they can make a good difference in low traction situations. As far as braking is concerned, which/how many wheels drive the car is irrelevant. There are brakes at every wheel, not just at the ones that drive the car.

    You need AWD in the RAIN? Man, Cali is really out of touch with the rest of the states that have "weather".

    AAhhhh, not too quick, my neighbor had a 1991-ish Subaru Loyale that is most definitely 2WD. Ask him how upset he was when he bought it in his high school years thinking that all Subarus had AWD...

    Until the BRZ, all Subarus sold in the US *since 1997* came standard with AWD. Before that, there were FWD as well as AWD models.
