With as much technology as our 2015 Porsche Macan has on offer, it's surprising that the designers stuck with traditional analog gages. We're glad they did.

    Couldn't agree more, that is such a refreshingly simple, clean, and handsome design.

    The old "Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication" applies here.

    Meh. I used to agree with that thinking, but after owning a W221 and now a Model S, I can't say that the physical aspect of gauges is what matters. Rather, it is how well executed they are regardless of medium. Some virtual gauges are terrible, but some are actually quite good. The same is true of physical gauges. Would I rather have a set of beautiful old-school gauges? Absolutely. However, most automaker's "classic" gauges are still loaded with TFT displays these days and that actually makes them worse than the full-TFT displays.

    The third binnacle is full TFT, so that's why Porsche is able to keep the analog gauges.

    I agree with mercedesfan. Execution is more important. For example a full set of analog gauges including oil pressure, voltage etc. would be nice but on the daily drive it could be to much and look cluttered. Speedo, tach, fuel, and water temp is more than enough for daily driving. However if I select sport mode the TFT display should then pull up oil temperature, turbo boost, and current gear selected. I could also have the option of choosing which gauges I want displayed all the time.     Simple, but that analog speedo looks difficult to read with a quick glance.

    Good thing it is supplemented by the giant digital readout below the tach.
