I know cars have got expensive, and Land Rovers have never been cheap in the US. but that base price is eye-watering. Yes, it seems like it is a capable and comfortable vehicle, but $40k+?? Yikes! Still rather have one than an X3.

IDK, in light of $32k base Explorers and $53k top line Explorers a $40k Range Rover doesn't seem unreasonable.

It's way better looking, yet smaller than the X3, Q5 or even the new MKC. And- while pricey, by the time you add seemingly standard luxury accouterments to ANY of these vehicles (heated seats, dimming mirrors, homelink, keyless entry, backup camera power liftgate, and the new lane departure/cross traffic/auto braking safety features- they're ALL pushing $50K. Even the MKC (which starts at $34K). Wish it had the MKCs noise cancelling system- very quiet!. Or, you could luxe out a Jeep Cherokee or Subie with all the safety and technology options, bigger engine, including Nav, and come in $15K less than any of these. Is the difference worth it? not yet sure.

Isn't this powered by Ford's Ecoboost?

What comparative vehicle has a lower cost? They're all very close, similarly equipped. Maybe the RDX is less- but it's fugly.

Kshankar- yes, the 2.0T is borrowed from Ford. That's OK tho- it's a great engine. Feels faster in the Evoque than in the MKC. I presume due to a lower vehicle weight, and perhaps tuning/electronics. HP/Torque specs are the same.
