Relative to the 2012 Camry LE Edmunds track tested, this Sonata is:

    A tenth slower to 60
Two tenths slower to the 1/4
A foot shorter in braking distance
Nearly identical in described steering feel (numb) and slalom performance (better than you'd think for a soft cruiser)

It's a Camry LE with a different badge. We've seen this before. We told you to get the Eco!!!

It's not the most exciting family sedan out there, but for most buyers, I think it fits the bill well enough. 0-60 in 8.2 isn't blazingly fast, but it's adequately quick for most people.

I would go so far as to say that the 0-60 is more than adequate for pretty much everyone that would be interested in buying this version of the Sonata or the 4 cyl Camry or Accord.

Really interested to hear how the "sport touchscreen audio display" and "sport automatic headlight control" shape the driving experience.

What's sad is that this car isn't selling all that well relative to when the previous Sonata was introduced and it seems to be a much better car in just about every way. (It's probably even better looking, if less striking.)

And approx $2-$3k cheaper for the same equipment! That's the point. Not that you can buy a similar car to a Camry, but to find out whether the Sonata is a true Camry alternative for less. This long term test is important in revealing whether Hyundai has really arrived as a top Japanese alternative, or whether it is still a sad impersonator.
