Why can't I get the key into the ignition? - '98 Rodeo

My brother-in-law has a 98 isuzu rodeo and the key won't go all the way into the ignition. What can we do to fix this?

    Could be that the ignition cylinder needs to be replaced. Given that it's a 16 year old vehicle, that seems a distinct possibility. Have you tried things like trying to move the steering wheel back and forth while trying to insert the key?

    I'm a retired locksmith and it's possibly obstructed! Did it happen suddenly?
