    " At this rate, it looks doubtful we will ever achieve the EPA's estimated 28 mpg combined unless the car goes on several more highway-intensive road trips."

    You have about 13,000 more miles before you're done with this one, right? Seems like you could bump up your combined average in a year's worth of driving..

    Agree. If they had 13k on it and 7k to go, that would be different, but I think they will get 28 or very close to it.
