  Toyota has a shimmy problem in the steering system of the FJ as well. The tires/wheels are not the problem. Toyota came out with a T.S.B. about a year ago stating that a spring be replaced in the rack & pinion assembly but that does not fix the problem. I purchased a new FJ Cruiser last year & after 6000 miles this shimmy started to occur. I've researched this problem in depth & found out that it goes back to 2007 (That's as far back as I went). I have had 2 new Toyota products with in a 2 year period & I will not be purchasing any Toyota products in the future. The 1st was a 2013 Tacoma pickup that developed a loud engine rattle shortly after purchasing the truck. The rattle would go away after the engine warmed up & the oil thinned out & flowed to the proper places. After taking the truck to 2 different dealers they told me the noise is normal. I don't think so! I've been a mechanic for years & I know when a noise is or is not normal. Sorry to say I was dumb enough to buy another Toyota product after that.

  [non-permissible content removed] I own an FJ and it loves to soften the bumps as I drive thru them. All Jeep owners beware of Death Wobble. There is NO SHIMMY in my 2014 FJ Cruiser all the way up to 85+mph. However, mileage on an FJ will decrease to 18mph on the highway at speeds over 80mph. I experienced 23+mpg at speeds 70mph and under.
  Also contrary to some reviews an FJ Cruisers road noise is minimal, wind noise is minimal however engine noise is evident when accelerating. An FJ Cruiser has a very PLEASANT ride and one fun SUV to whip around town in.
