    That's a shame. With so many well-engineered systems available today, why aren't the Kings of Engineering listed among the best?

    I'm no fan of this car, but...that sounds like something's wrong with it. No possible way it could have been designed to act like this, except for the beeps. All the Japanese makers really, REALLY like beeps for these systems. The feature itself is of course designed so that you can remove your attention from tracking the distance to the car ahead...but then they throw in lots of beeps to bring your attention BACK to the distance to the car ahead.

    No idea why.

    This is why people are really eager to see how Tesla will perform with their assisted driver solution this summer. THIS is not acceptable. Beeps are useless and a system that kinda-sorta-works means that you won't use it because you don't TRUST it (and rightfully so). We need to get to where automated systems can drive you on the highway reliably and consistently with no worries. In the current state, this is useless. Maybe 2016 models will start getting something usable.

    There are a good number of radar cruise control systems out there today that work flawlessly. MB and Volvo are two great examples of companies that have these things beautifully sorted out.

    Very interesting. My 2006 RL also has ACC, and I've found that it works pretty well. When a car moves into it's path which requires slowing down, there is a beep and then when the car moves away, there is another beep. But it's not very obtrusive and I never found it annoying.

    This is why I won't use ACC in most cars, and also why I won't buy one where ACC cannot be disabled so I can have the cruise in fixed speed mode.

    I would have the dealer check it out at the next service. And I agree, the Japanese really like their beeps.
