Engine oil use

It stalled one time last week. Four days later it stalled again and engine light came on. Went to dealer within 1 hour. They tell me the oil was low. Had oil changed. Then I was told to check oil every 1000 miles. Never seen this on a 3 year old vehicle. With 72,000 miles. What now?do I need to trade and keep my mouth shut.

    What's the problem with checking fluid levels? This is considered routine maintenance.

    There is no problem with checking your oil every now and then. It's just normal.

    All cars use "some" oil so why not check it? Shouldn't be a big deal and with 72,000 miles using a quart
    every 1000 miles is in the normal range.

    Maybe I'm missing something here?
