What causes all dash lights to start flashing. - 2003 Sable wagon

I have a 2003 Mercury Sable Wagan LS Premium With 6 cyl. w/ DOHC. I was driving and all of a sudden all the lights on the dash began flashing, the car was trying to surge at the same time. It stopped. I few miles later after i turned off the car and restarted it, it did it again, only this time the car stalled. It started back up and hasn't done it again. What causes this to happen.

    Check battery connections, there could be loose or dirty connection.

    I had the same problem with my 2005 mgm and I cleaned my battery terminals and it solved the problem. If that's any help.
