Manual Transmission problem

Yesterday heading home the stick shift got loose. RPM's rev but will not engage in any gear. It is as if it is loose, sloppy I can run it in any gear but it will not engage in a gear. Any ideas to look at?

    I would guess something came apart in shifter assembly inside cabin. I will guess there is a silver trim piece around leather thaty I believe you cold carefully pry up and see whats going on underneath

    Yup been there. The clutch feels fine. But the shifter I can move in circles without pushing the clutch in. Even with engine running it won't stall it out.
